What are the biggest omaha games in Canada? I have played in a 20-40 limit high game in at the Great Blue Heron. Brantford , Windsor or Niagra have omaha?

The 5-10 PL DC (which pretty much means Omaha) gets going almost daily from what I hear at Elbow River. It also occasionally runs at Casino Calgary on the weekends.

As far as holdem the 30-60 gets going fairly regularly in the evenings and the 50-100 is sporadic.

Nothing that big in Edmonton unless the CPT is in town. We generally run 10/25 PL as the biggest game when they are here.

Where's the bigger LHE normally occur?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yellowhead runs a 10/20 w/ kill on Friday nights and a 15/30 half/half on Saturday nights. Baccarat runs bigger games on weekdays, usually 15/30 O8 or 5/5 PL dealer's choice. No idea about Argyll.

Keep an eye open for River Cree, we open on the 26th and I'm sure the poker manager will be eager to please...

having played in this game a number of times the correct answer is:

wild preflop, with 6xBB openraises and suited crap hands happily calling.

TAG postflop, with very few players happy to go broke with an overpair.

[/ QUOTE ]

in my extraordinarily limited fallsview 5/5 NL experience, this is an excellent description: tons of people raising and calling raises preflop but very few people would ever get stacked. post-flop it really slowed down. seldom saw $100 bets post-flop... but as i said, pretty limited experience.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was actually describing the 10-25 and the occasional 25-50 that gets going on weekends.

i'll elaborate on my description. In general, at the risk of making a huge generalization, there are two kinds of players in that game:

First, old white men and those of european descent, esp italy tend to be very laggy preflop. They screw down postflop to the point of weak-tight and loose-passive. Calling two bets with tpnk and folding after that. If they raise at any point, they're not drawing. These guys make the game if you like to bluff the river.

The second is the asian, vietnamese/chinese, who are very tag preflop but super aggro post flop and will bet anytime they sense any sort of weakness. They bluff and do all sorts of stuff.

Neither type tends to stack off once they've built their chips up, you will need to be on the right side of a nut vs. second nut.

Again this is a generalization and you will run into players in both categories who play solidly, but they are in the minority.

There used to be a fairly regular 10/20 PL DC game (mainly Omaha) at Elbow in Calgary, there was a list started when I was in there on Monday. Definately a profitable game for someone with good Omaha skills.

Elbow usually has a table of 15/30 w/kill and occasionally gets a 30/60 game going not sure if it has a kill or not.

Deerfoot has 1/2nl and sometimes 2/5nl and I think occasionally you'll see a 5/10nl game at one of the casinos.
The bigger stake games happen during CPT events
