Hey stormy - good to see a fellow Cyclone on the board - don't remember seeing you around before. Maybe a new avatar or the fact I haven't been around for a few weeks. And of course F Iowa this weekend.

Ok on to my story....

Started last July. Got $50 from my mom as a present and I had just read a article somewhere (ESPN.com maybe?) about how online poker was just ripe with fish ready to hand you their money. I don't have good records for hand numbers due to being slow to get PT and a crappy computer that lost a few databases.

Promised wife like everyone else if I busted I was down. I spent $25 on WLLH and put $25 in stars and played 0.02/0.04. I moved quickly to 5c/10c and found I could read the old usenet poker boards at work without the site being blocked (most gambling sites are blocked at work).

Was at 25c/50c around December although I had some trouble there (found out I was moving way too early - more like 75BB instead of 300BB so I had to move down quite a few times). Bought HPFAP and TOP in the fall. Was far from ready for HPFAP and played like crap for a while.

Eventually found a weird loophole that allows me to view the 2+2 forums at work (archive server and front page is blocked due to gambling content, but forums ok). So I registerd in Dec.

Bought SSHE shortly after and lurked for a long time. Went on a nice run after that and moved to 0.5/1. Did well at 0.5/1 and cleared a couple bonuses. About March I made my first run at 1/2.

Moving to 1/2 about killed my poker career. Not sure how many times I moved back down. Finally in about June/July I made the leap and it stuck. Probably not a coincidence that I started being a little more active here around then (although not as much as I would have liked especially the last few weeks). Also reread SSHE about 4 times.

I'm now more that rolled for 2/4, but want to get a good sample size at 1/2 first. Although it's tough becasue Pokernetwork windows version hasn't been working for me for I have to do the Java version and no hand histories.

Soon I'm planning to either take the 2/4 or 6 max leap. Dabble in 6 max a little but not much. Also dabble in a few other games, but not much.

Damn my progress was a lot better before I decided to read this post and reply while 3 tabling (I know better, really I do) and played like a donkey and donated 25 BB. Still up 15BB for the night though.

Started about 15 months ago at .5/1 and I've been grinding bonuses out and made over $5000 in that time. Too chicken to move up I guess and the money is so easy with the bonuses. I"m gonna hit up 1/2 at WPEX to see how that goes.

I don't know how all you younguns do it with bonuses so well. I do better without them so far. Probably picked the wrong one to start with.

Just a new avatar. Thanks for noticing. Of course, our D needs to step it up a couple of notches but I think we can beat them Hawkeyes. Go 'Clones.

When I started with the standard $50 on Pacific (in August '04) I jumped between all the games (even played O8), but mostly concentrated on Pacific SnG's.

Moved over to Paradise and started at .10/.25 there, and moved up to .5/1.00. When I got to .50/1.00 I moved over the Party and then up to 1/2. That's all full ring.

Had a real bad cold-streak (and I think it was really just jitters because I had to take a bunch of my roll out to pay for step-son's college and didn't ever get it back into poker), Party skins split up, Party bonuses dried up and online poker wasn't looking all that juicy anymore to someone like me with a small roll.

Took a few month break, and started back this spring at .50/1.00, and quickly moved over to 6-max.

I don't have my statistics database anymore but my full ring stats were generally 18/8. Not sure what my winrate was, but I was doing pretty good. A lot of my roll was bonuses, but I was winning. I'm pretty much 24/14 in 6-max. My winrate for 2006 in .50/1 is 2.82BB/100 but my 1/2 is negative at the moment (just a few thousand hands).

October 2005 - Stuck $100 on Stars and lost it all playing 1/2 (yes 1/2) while convinced i was unlucky.
Novermber 2005 - Bought WLLH and realised i was sh$ite (irish expression; means worse than sh$it) at poker.
Jan 2006 - Realised I needed to learn how to play LHE and stumbled across 2+2 and could not believe people put so much thought/discussion into each and every single bet.
Feb 2006 - Deposited $200 on Neteller and began bonus whorin playing .5/1
Mar 2006 - Bought SSHE and was dumbfounded with how little i knew about Small Stakes Hold'em
Since Mar 2006 - Play about 500 hands per week trying to apply SSHE concepts, post on 2+2 and bonus whore.

Goals - Rolled adequately for 1/2 but going to stick at .5/1 for min 10K hand and until comfortable with all concepts presented by SSHE how ever long that may take. In this for the LOOOONNNNNGGGGG run

I actually really like these posts, except for all the depressing BUSTO posts that were at the start of this thread. I'll post my yeah in review in early Jan, since that's when I posted in Jax's thread last time, which nomad was kind enough to link to.

I don't expect anyone to read this, but:

- I deposited $50 at Party and went busto at .5/1 in one night.
- I deposited $90 at UB and swiftly turned it into $9 playing .5/1.
- Got some NL advice from a friend, took the $9 to UB $2NL and turned it into $175 in a couple months of 3-tabling.
- Found 2+2 and deposited another $50 at Party. I've essentially turned that $50 into $15,000 (including bonuses) playing 100K hands almost entirely at .5/1, across a number of sites. (Thank you, 2+2.) So I'm still at the same level, just a little better than when I started.

Crib notes for me.

- Get free money from TGC for their OIC.
- Play 10k hands at .05/.10 on Stars for 8 bb/100
- Run bankroll from $300 to 10k in about 3 months thanks to an excellent summer of casino whoring (Thanks to Granny Maes legendary 'Autoplay BJ thread in OOT')
- Play 30k hands at .5/1 on various sites for 4.5bb/100
- Play 20k hands at 1/2 on various sites for 2bb/100
- Bankroll pushes past 20k, due in large part to bonus money.
- Hit first major downswing OMG -150bb at 1/2
- Recover and continue on at 1/2, scared to take a stab at 2/4 even though I have a 5000bb+ bankroll.
- Start playing 2/4 at Stars to clear the 6 bonuses I have still pending there. Run good for 3k hands, while continuing to play 1/2 at other sites for bonus clearing. Stop playing at Stars becuase bonus clears too slow and I got other bonus to clear
- Take random stabs at .5/1 6 max games and get killed everytime, learning I am a terrible short handed player
- Cash out 12k to replace kitchen, bankroll now sits at a paltry 9k
- Hit second major downswing. -250 bb at 1/2 and -150 bb at 2/4 (not concurrent).
- Take 6 week break!

So that leaves me here. Still mired in a deep losing streak and now at .8bb/100 over 40k hands at 1/2. I am almost to the point where I am going to give up at this level and just play 2/4 or .5/1, as there is just something about 1/2 that doesnt like me.
