Actually, if his bet here was 2.5 BB, and we had the option of just calling it, and then seeing the turn, river, and showdown w/o putting in any more money, we should call. We're a 1.8:1 dog to his range getting 2.5:1 on our money. When he chooses to bet the turn again, however, things look much more grim.

All right, now is the time to stop working for the day . When I compared odds after correcting my hand count, I devided 22 by 6 instead of 12 and thus concluded that we're too far behind to call down. 1.8:1 doesn't look that bad any more.

You're right, of course, that we're likely dead if he bets the turn again.

I like c/c here since a c/r will scare off weaker hands like 99/TT/JJ and weird holdings (QJ ...), which will very likely bet when checked to.
On the other hand we lose less when behind to big pp and AK/AQ ... .
Giving a free (or cheap) card isnt much of a problem here imo since most hands which are behind have 3 or less outs.

My first thought was to bet/call the flop and check/fold the turn.

If he just called the flop I'd bet/fold the turn.

If he called flop+turn check/call river.

Is that bad?

/edit this is of coarse if the turn and river are relatively blank.

*Grunch*

I bet the flop and fold to a raise thinking I am behind if raised. If not raised I probably check call a brick on the river.

If we're raised on the flop, I don't think we have many outs. If I bet, I think it's with the intention of folding, and I don't like that as much as a flop c/c. We give up on our chance to spike a Q while putting in the same 1 SB, and lose value from TT and JJ, who might bet, but not call our bet.
