I'm not familiar with Gangster No. 1, but I did watch The Great Escape last night and would love to read your review of that one.

Okay, You get the G! Haven't seen this one in a while, so will have to watch it again at the weekend.... I have seen it about 10-15 times though...

God bless you if you can get through The Elephant Man again if you've already seen it. I could only watch it once. It would be way too hard for me to get through it a second time.

BTW, they did release a restored widescreen version of The Great Escape on DVD a couple of years ago, so at least you can see a really good print.

I presume you mean because it was so touching, right? It is a beautiful and touching movie. Produced by Mel Brooks (who aslo produced the Fly), no less.

I could watch the Elephant Man over and over, I find it a very unlifting film.

I think you need to dig up Fer-de-Lance and see if it can be re-released under the name "Snakes On A Submarine".

okay, the project continues...

so far, I've done:
African Queen
Breakfast at Tiffanys
Candyman
Duel
The Elephant Man
Formula 51(aka 51st State)

And here's the remaining program. As ever, any not specifically requested (as denoted by a 'suggested by ...') are up for alternatives. Highlander can be replaced by any movies starting with 'H' that I would be up for reviewing, for example.

Great Escape (suggested by TheDudeAbides)
Highlander
It
Jerk
The Keep
Long Good Friday
Man Bites Dog (maybe the Machinist if I go buy a copy soon)
1984
Once Upon a Time in the West
Predator 2 or The Punisher (Dolph Lundren version)
Quadrophenia
Romper Stomper (suggested by Odell)
Spirit of the Beehive (suggested by John Cole)
Top Secret
Unbreakable or The Untouchables
The Vikings
Wages of Fear
Xtro
Year of the Comet
Zoolander

I refuse to offer any more suggestions, since Duel got zero response. This place has no taste.
