Re: Miscellaneous Life Skills
I'm also surprised how few people can drive stick and how some just refuse to learn.
The main thing on my list would be improving and learning to speak then read/write different languages. Hopefully I'll make a lot of progress on these in a year. - French (just the basics, taking courses in Uni.) - Cantonese (I suck but getting better) - Mandarin (my dad's home full time now so I'm going to get him and friends to start teaching me) - Vietnamese (not the greatest and can't really read/write which is sad) I'd also like learn more about stocks/finances. I'm not a nature person and can't stand the sun so I don't have as much on my list =/. I'm also going to try and start sleeping less and less to see if I can get by on 4-5 hours a day or some [censored] like sleeping every other day. But this is more self-abuse then anything? |

Re: Miscellaneous Life Skills
[ QUOTE ]
I suppose this is the wrong website to mention "social skills"? Almost 40 posts in and the closest we've gotten is "Music", "Public speaking", and "How not to get in a fight". I guess 2+2 really "doesn't play well with others".... - How to introduce yourself to strangers, particularly of the opposite sex - How to make small talk with people you don't know/don't care about - How to make friends and influence people - How to dress yourself for different situations - Personal hygene - How to pick out an appropriate gift for a variety of occaisions - How to hold your alcohol, particularly in situations where it'd be inappropriate to get sloppy-drunk - How to write a resume - How to do well in a job interview - How to relate to a boss, co-worker or subordinate - How to deal with customers/clients, how to be a customer/client - How to wield authority (leadership), how to deal with abuses of authority - How to tip etc. [/ QUOTE ] I was really worried about this forum until I read this one. Knowing how and when to tell a joke is also up there. |
