Iron & Wine no longer belongs in this thread. The Garden State soundtrack and the M&M's commercial made sure of that.

[ QUOTE ]
Seriously- who the [censored] is P.O.S- I'm reasonably well versed in indie hip-hop and either I'm not realizing what that stands for or I've never heard of them. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, I'm shocked. Very surprised someone as well-versed in Indie hip-hop isn't intimately familiar with all of the Rhymesayers label, and the fact that the best in hip-hop is coming out their stable. if you can't find high-quality listening material let me know and i can hook you up, as I know you'll want to legally acquire your own copies once you see what you were missing. I assume you're familiar with Atmosphere, at least? I'd strongly argue that P.O.S. and Atmosphere are two of the top five in all of hip-hop right now. Personally I rate POS > Atmosphere but I know a lot of people who go the other way around... The best places to start are probably each's respective myspace. I strongly recommend the videos from Atmosphere as the fact that its an average looking white guy make a stronger impact. http://www.myspace.com/atmosphere http://www.myspace.com/posisruiningmylife EDIT: [ QUOTE ] OK, reading up. RSE artist that I've never heard of. I haven't heard a lick of music- but I feel prepared to dislike him. [/ QUOTE ] Well, that answers that you know of Rhymesayers Why the pre-disposition to dislike? |

[ QUOTE ] Mr. Blotto. not sure if they really want to, though. [/ QUOTE ] Just saw them for the first time on Saturday. They were pretty damn good. [/ QUOTE ] Did they cover any whole album sides? What did they play for you? |

Re: Terrific Bands not quite able to break through to the \"Bigtime\"
Cast Iron Filter. Always pretty big in the southern college scene, but they broke up just at the wrong time (right after a song hit #1 on the alternative country charts). My favorite band.

Arc Angels. Charlie Sexton, Stevie Ray's nephew Doyle Bramhall II, and one fantastic debut album.
They never hit it big, something about heroin, I think. |
