Im expecting the number to be higher than last year. What was it last year?

coolmoedee - unless you know something that almost everyone else does not there is almost zero chance they will have more entrants than last year.

Party isn't in the U.S. anymore.

FullTilt and Stars are just giving their players the cash because they can't buy-in for them.
Many of the players who win their seats online will just keep the cash and not attend. This had never been an option for them before.

I think this is HUGE...the fact that they cannot buy you in and give cash instead. IMO this will have the greatest effect on the number of entrants.

are they still covering hotel expenses? that would probably get a few more to use the 10k for a seat, otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if less than 10% actually used it for that

Are sites still using the "only one 'seat' per player" rule? If not, then a lot of players will accumulate seats and less will go to random donks, as well, which will also limit the # of entries.

what has been the growth in European (well, all non-US) poker and the sites that cater to that demographic?

Hahaha, a bunch of sports bettors think they know the poker world. Sorry laughing my ass off for a sec. The fact that online poker has partially left the US might actually bring the numbers up because people can't spend their money online so they'll go to real casino's and try to win their way in. Also, the sites are still giving away seats and there is no better advertising then a player wearing your gear winnning the WSOP. I'm not going to be because no one knows for certain but I beleive the numbers will be up from last year. I can't wait to say "I told you so"

Have you ever considered that this "bunch of sports bettors" probably plays poker too? Given your great understanding of math, I'm sure you'd be the favorite over anyone who posts on the sports betting forum in a ring game.

Edit: This is not to say that poker skill makes someone better able to make a line on this bet, something coolmoedee also has no clue about.

You can't wear the "gear" with blatant advertising.

I'll stop here since you never had any clue what you were talking about.
