[/ QUOTE ] The importance of piece of legislation really has no bearing on if the President will veto it. He will likely veto this bill if it came to him alone given his stance on gambling and the perception (or otherwise) that this measure would encourage and increase that practive. Sure, he may play poker now and again--but that's got nothing to do with how he perceives this one IMO. Veto pending if it clears the House/Senate on its own (which is a heavy lift in and of itself)

You people need to stop saying that phone calls mean nothing to these guys.
If their office is shut down because the phone won't stop ringing with "poker degenerates" calling them telling them to vote YES for this bill, you can bet your ass that they'll do it. It worked here in Wisconsin to repeal our automatic increase on our gas tax. A local radio talk show host spent an enormous amount of his on-air time explaining why people should call in. And Lord did they call. They brought the entire phone system in our capital to its knees and the legislation passed with numbers that no one thought possible. PHONE CALLS MATTER! You just have to make lots of them! Ask to be put into voice mail if you can't actually speak to them. If it really matters to you, then you'll make the effort.
