OP,
As long as you're living in your parents house and they're paying the bills I think you should follow their rules. Pragmatically, you're spending a lot of time not making any money. You're young, you should be enjoying life. Assuming one is a long term winning players one of the biggest negatives of poker is how it is such a solitary pursuit. For many of us, it takes our latent anti-social tendencies and turns them into a real problem. Sounds like you may be heading in that direction.

If I were you and really, really wanted to play I would write a paper with lots of references for my dad showing how poker is a game of skill. I would propose a deal with him where I would deposit $50 dollars and that you won't redeposit if you lose.

Enjoy high school while you can, go out with your friends as much as possible, avoid sitting alone "working" for hours on end (even if it is playing a game that's probably still fun for you). There will be PLENTY of time for that later. Wait until you're 18 and at college or out on your own, then make your own decesions about poker (and it'll actually be legal(ish)).

Dad's house, dad's rules. He has your best interests in mind here, if you don't like it, attempt to support yourself on your $100/wk. You'll soon be glad he lets you back in the house. In a couple short years your "$100 bankroll" will seem completely meaningless, but the good times you had in your youth won't. Keep going to your monthly home game btw.

beat: still not knowing how to spell the word "lose" as a teenager

This has to be the most misspelled word of all time. Not only on message boards, but I see the word used on professional websites quite often. It annoys the [censored] out of me.

That's rediculous, i can think of lots of words mispelled more often.
