I DO want to go through college and get my degree and become an architect, someday. But I feel that I am missing out on great oppurtonity to make BIG BUCKS playing online poker. Right, I can do both at the same time easily, but knowing that for every hour I spend in class I could be raking in $100s of bucks I just feel that I am underacheiving.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah that's [censored].

When you have as much money as we do in college, you are richer than God.

The OP is only 18. He's set to graduate when he is 21. If he takes a year off he'll graduate at 22, two years he'll graduate at 23, three years at 24.

At any rate he can just take it a few months at a time and redefine his goals before any session of school is starting. If he's going to lose his scholarship by dropping out then he's costing himself $24,000 over 3 years.

There's no reason why he has to lose his scholarship. Most of them allow up to a 2 year leave of absence for "personal" or "family" reasons.

This is a REALLY, REALLY bad way of looking at things. If you keep thinking this way, you'll eventually start doing this:

Wake up.
Play poker.
Take 5 minutes to use bathroom/eat.
Play poker.
Sleep.

There is WAY more to life than making money, regardless of how you do it. Don't fall into this trap.

Grim, how many hours do you play on the weekend? Do you ever get tired/bored then? If you do, don't even consider dropping. Also, you can comfortably play 5 hours 7-12 or 8-1 9-2 every day and bam there's your five hours a day. Make up for Friday on the weekends or something.

Funny, this is like my life, except I use the bathroom between hands when I've folded at all tables, I eat like 80% of my meals in front of my computer, and sometimes I get drunk when the games are really bad. It's pretty awesome.

Seriously how much time does school actually take up. I mean come on you are a freshman and your classes arent even hard yet. I am a senior and will be finishing up my degree in december and have always found time to log at least 30K hands a month while keeping a 3.5 GPA. So it not that hard. Study play poker get drunk have fun= great experience.

Another thing to consider is how much more will you really be playing once you drop out? I went through the same thinking about a 5 months ago and I am glad I decided to stay in school. I am going pro in May and am glad I waited because I dont think I was mentally and emotionally ready when I was considering it last year. So my advice wait. If you are beating the games as bad as you claim then making several hundred thousand while in school shouldnt be too much of a problem.
