Anyway, everyone in this thread must hear the album! Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol.

I have a feeling that most everyone who is reading this thread has indeed heard it.

I'm sure there are some lurkers who haven't, and they need to.

I've no doubt that the people posting in this thread have heard it.

Any early thoughts on "In Rainbows?" I'm downloading it right now. I'm also curious, what did people pay for it?

Wait, what is this Inter-pole all the kids are talking about?

I've only listened to In Rainbows once, and I'm gonna refrain from comment atm because I've decided I never know how I feel about an album till I've heard it at least 3 times.

I've also listened to that latest Jens Lekman album nath keeps talking about. First impression is that his voice sounds a lot like Morrissey's. Very cool song arrangements. But like the Radiohead album, I've only heard it once, so who knows.

Yeah, maybe so. What kind of venue was it? I've seen LCD twice at festivals-- one on a large outdoor stage and one in a smaller tent with an accompanying light show and such. The latter blew away the former.

Outdoor, at Leeds wireless festival, probably a similar setup to the former. I'm with you that smaller venues are almost always better, more or less every band I've seen more than once (probably only like a half dozen) did a better show in the more intimate venue.

Oh, and I opened this thread to re-emphasize how good the Jens Lekman album is. I think it's the best album of the year and maybe better than anything that came out last year. It could be my sensibilities, but I think, at worst, you will find it great.

[/ QUOTE ]

Couldn't agree more. I don't remember liking an album this much since Funeral came out. Just a beautiful record, and I think the album cover is pretty awesome too and describes how the record is.

My top 5 so far at the moment I think is:

1) Jens Lekman - Night Falls over Kortedala
2) M.I.A.- Kala
3) LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
4) Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
5) Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha

Okkervil River's album should be there too though.

Biggest disappointment is the Rilo Kiley album. I know I shouldn't have expected much, but I love The Execution of all Things and the last Elected CD so much, that I was still looking forward to it.

Also, Justice on Jimmy Kimmell was incredibly badass.

I definitely agree with this, but some bands' shows translate to a larger venue better then others. For example, I've seen My Morning Jacket at a tiny venue (~100 people) a small venue (~300 people) and at Lollapalooza (obv. large outdoor show). I think the last one was probably the most fun.
