Why do people even talk about Tyson? He was never good. He isn't half the fighter Lennox Lewis was.

I'm not even a Tyson fan, but WTF are you talking about?

[/ QUOTE ]

An 80's tyson murders any fighter of the 90's in the ring.

[/ QUOTE ]

not true

80's Tyson never faced any good opposition

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, in fairness, no heavy weight has faced any good competition since the 70's.

Not true, just because he made it look easy doesn't mean they weren't good heavyweights. He unified the titles and beat everyone.

FWIW, in college I watched a 160 pound gold gloves boxer light up a 260-270ish D1 football player. The boxer was 17 and I had gone to high school with him.

You guys are vastly underestimating the value of learning how to fight, whether it's MMA, "street fighting", boxing, whatever.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the truth.

td,

Chuck liddel seems like a cool guy to me. I'd share a beer with him. Fedor makes me want to [censored] myself.

FWIW, I think people here are underestimating the limitations in a boxing match that give tyson his advantage. If they had to trade blows, tyson would win no sweat. But in a street fight, Lewis would tackle tysons ass and start pounding him on the ground. Tyson is an idiot and he wouldn't know what to do when this happened. Tyson would get owned in a street fight, and it wouldn't be close.

Bang. Thank you.

Clearly if Ray Lewis tries to stand up with Mike Tyson, Tyson will punch his head across whatever street they are fighting on.

Lewis has to bull rush Tyson and take him to the ground. Tyson is a professional fighter, but afaik, he has virtually no ground training. If Lewis can get him to the ground, he would be able to neutralize a LOT of Tyson's advantage.

I think Tyson wins this 7 times out of 10.

Mike Tyson never murdered anyone (that we know of)

eh, Lewis only obstructed justice, which won't help him in a fight vs. Tyson

There's no way Lewis wins this.

Also, going back to OP's original post...Ray Lewis is nowhere near the best linebacker in the game today. Three years ago, probably. But it's pretty widely acknowledged that he's lost a step.

260-270ish D1 football player != Ray freaking Lewis

Also, sounds like these guys were trading blows. Lewis isn't going to stand around and wait for Tyson to pummel him. This fight is going to the ground and fast.

Notice that I said, "arguably." FWIW, it is debated that he has lost a step since his defense has deteriorated (only 2 starters remain from the Super Bowl team) not allowing him to really do what he was able to do 3 years ago. If he had help, would we be arguing about his lose of step? We don't know this, and this is why its debated and not "acknowledged." But this is more Sporting Forum stuff.

Two football players (in their prime) that could kick Tyson's ass
