Re: Ask me about being an EMT.
[ QUOTE ]
Ask me anything about horse racing. I have seen it on TV liek once or twice though I have never been to a race and never ridden a horse. Please don't ask for any amusing anecdotes. Will not answer. Thank you. [/ QUOTE ] What are your opinions on drugged horses? Do you think this is as big of a problem in the Horse Racing community as some other critics do? |

Re: Ask me about being an EMT.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] How many calls are emergencies? [/ QUOTE ] When it's been analyzed it's estimated 61% of calls were not actual medical emergencies. This depends largely on the area. Some people make these calls for attention. Some because they do not have transportation or do not really understand the purpose. And a lot are people who freaked themselves out and genuinely believed they had an emergency. It's very common for someone having a panic attack to believe they are having a heart attack. Any other questions? [/ QUOTE ]So when asked how many calls are NOT emergencies, this guy says he doesn't have statistics and can't comprehend how to give a general answer. Then when asked how many calls ARE emergencies, he suddenly pops up with an answer for how many are NOT, complete with statistics. |

Re: Ask me about being an EMT.
I used to work for American Medical Response. What company do you work for and how much do they charge for an ambulance ride? IIRC, AMR used to charge $525 + $15/mile.

Re: Ask me about being an EMT.
Arrrr, I've been leveled. Damn. Should have read vs skimmed rest of thread. Now I'm genuinely curious and don't know who to ask. Anyone a real EMT? Please?

Re: Ask me about being an EMT.
Here are some real questions for you OP:
(1) What skills do you think everyday people should know in order to save lives? I've always thought it would be a good idea to take some kind of emergency health training. Obviously CPR is one of these - what else? Other things to look for (taking vital signs, for example) (2) What separates an EMT from a Paramedic from a full out doctor? (3) Do you have a lot of back pain from lifting fat people on stretchers? |
