Hooray for the 44% who think it's chance or mostly chance.

Re: USA Today - Vote: Skill or Chance?
[ QUOTE ]
This is the most retarded thing I've ever read, who the hell is voting for mostly luck and some skill???? It is clearly all the people that we send home talking to themselves every night. [/ QUOTE ] QFT - much of the skill is incomprehensible to the GWs that log on lose 4 BIs quit, do not play for 4 months then repeat the process. GWs thought process at his home game in whitehouse... i had AK hu v condoleezza (i got that biatch gw thinks) i raised flop comes A48 i bet, she shoved (typical condol - not this time hon), i called (fist pump - yihaa - i got big stick babe), and she out lucked me with a set.. how unlucky this game is.. yada yada yada.. poker is long term skill governed by short term luck. Just as scrabble is short term luck as you have to pull the letters from the bag (my God chance!), but long term the better player 'usualy' wins (oh so skill). The only game i can think of that is not luck is 'Go' and even then someone has to go first and u usualy toss a coin for that. Obv. experienced players that think poker is mostly luck watch Jamie Gold. |

Re: USA Today - Vote: Skill or Chance?
[ QUOTE ]
People! We're shooting ourselves in the foot here!! We benefit greatly from the misconception that poker is luck. It's to our advantage to be lumped in with blackjack, slot machines and keno. DUCY? Please do not tap the glass! [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts exactly. The money in poker comes from the fish who play because they think it's an even playing field and therefore think they also have a chance of winning big moniez. Don't try and convince them otherwise or else they'll go back to the craps table. It's like talking strategy at the table. Don't do it ! There is no strategy remember, it's all luck Also, the advantage of where I live is that earnings from "gambling" are tax-free. Re: USA Today - Vote: Skill or Chance?
I used to understand how some people could think poker involved more luck than skill. But since giving up fixed limit, it's very hard to have a losing day. And I rarely put in more than a thousand hands in a day. Winning at poker is just having the discipline to stay at the skill level that you can beat. So it's almost all skill.

Re: USA Today - Vote: Skill or Chance?
Step 1: Replace "Poker" with "Stock Market"
Step 2: Answer modified question Step 3: Return to original question. Take your response in Step 2 and apply the following function f(A)=B f(B)=C f(C)=D f(D)=D. Where A = chance, B= mostly chance, C= mostly skill and D=skill Answer survey with function value. |
