Why do people take drugs?

I think this is a common experience with pot. It can make you hyper-aware of things you never realized before. That's one reason people on pot often find everything so funny. They realize how many assumptions they're making about life and how uptight they really are, in ways they may have never suspected before. It can make you pay attention to things in a different way. And realize how much energy you spend on nonsense and on being uptight or even flat out unhappy.

When someone first tries pot, it can be a pretty powerful experience.

That's why I'd recommend everybody do it at least a few times. Just to look at oneself and the world in a different way, and see how much of the way we see things is really self-imposed or a matter of habit, upbringing, social consensus, and just flat out fear.

i've never done anything other than weed, and i've smoked up less than 30 times in my life (over six years), maybe two dime-bags worth total... but I miss it every day.

it's really the only time i felt like i am completely alive, aware, and enjoying every second of my existence. i understand everything that goes on around me at a deeper level than anything ever before. it's funny really, because most people associate pot with being half-asleep.

I'd been drinking.... By no means was I drunk, but it probably wasn't a good time to try a new drug.

I vommited once in awhile, most of the time its becasue Im drunk, and I get a coughing fit, and end up not being able to stop coughing. Then [censored]! puke.

I spent 27 years of my life only drinking. At some point the logical inconsistancy of drinking and not smoking got to me and I tried pot. It was [censored] awesome.

Coke is weird. I used to think I would never do coke. Then I kept meeting and knowing people who I thought were smart that occasionally did it. This sounds like a bad DARE thing, but eventually I was like "you know, if xxxx does coke very infrequentyly, I just might try it once". I haven't yet, and don't really plan on it, but I can't say that I'd turn it down in the right situation. I used to think I'd never smoke, and made lots of blustery statements about that, and I had a cigarette for the first time ever a month or so back and ended up really enjoying it.

I'm not sure what my point is, but I will leave you with the wise words of my father.

"If this much makes me feel this good, think about how much better a lot more will make me feel"
