[ QUOTE ]
tuq, Button mushrooms don't have a whole lot of flavor on their own. They are, however, a sponge for flavor from other things. Cook them with olive oil, and they'll retain the slightly sweet, slightly nutty flavor of the oil. Cook them with steak, and they'll retain all the smokey, peppery flavor of the beef, like eating the bits left in the pan. Cook them with pizza, and they'll soak up the flavors of whatever other ingredients are there. That's why people say they "don't taste like anything:" they don't mean mushrooms have no flavor, but that they don't taste like one particular thing. [/ QUOTE ] Thank You. This is seriously the one time in my life someone has successfully explained this to me; heretofore it made no sense. So while it does make sense, I'm weird with food and the whole fungus thing just gets to me too much and I will continue to avoid mushrooms in all food, period. |

in order
Plain Cheese slice must be local and good , pizza does not require toppings to cover it up if it's good. Sicilian - same as above if there crust is good this is better White Slice - change of pace slice If I get anything on it, its nothing anyone else likes; anchovies, onions and olives. I also a enjoy broccoli rabe/sausage too if its(Broccoli rabe) in season and cooked right(usually can only find that local by me in the bronx though) PS Yes NYC is better then chains obv, chain pizza can be good late night junk food though so it does have its place. |

Caprese:
![]() it's a very simple pizza of fresh tomato, basil, bochachini (its like cheesecurd and it's super tasty) cheese and drizzled olive oil on a thin base, the above picture sucks as it has too much cheese and the crust is too thick. A good woodfire caprese with a good wine/beer is sick awesome as a simple meal |

I was with you until you said ketchup. wtf [/ QUOTE ] Hah, everyone always says this I just put ketchup in every food I eat. Not everytime on my pizza though but if it's been too long in the oven I add ketchup. |
