ZJ - can i ask why you couldn't C/C the river rather than bet/fold?

sorry if that alludes to the actual results posted in the other thread.

if you did C/C the river... how much do you think he would have bet?

Basically, with 300bb deep, and the read that he VERY likely had a monster from the pf-action/body language, how would you really feel getting 3-bet against a guy you know probably never ever bluffs in that spot, and has a range of AA,KK and AK, where you cannot at safely deduct that AA/KK 3-bets and AK calls. I would basically throw up in that spot and curse myself for checkraisng in the first place.

This isn't a super aggressive high stakes cash game. And it's live. I'm not going broke here ever. I don't think he's 3 betting AK on this flop.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like a case for 3 betting AK to me.

Either way, he sounds huge, and surprisingly , this nit folds.

Don't get value from worse made hands when I check call. After his turn mistake, he's not gonna value bet the river with worse than a set.

Also, if I check, I don't know how much he'll bet, and won't know where I am regardless of the bet size. What do I do if he says all-in?

Facing a 5k bet, I'm pretty confident he would only raise if he had me beat.

That was my logic at the time. Of course I already said I played the hand badly in my OP.

the key is taht i might never fold a set in my life, and i am going to be so happy that i never did.

i folded one once when i was young and stupid, and was wrong, and i vowed to never do it again.

i'm very happy with that life decision/

This is silly.
The supposed key that there's no hand he would want to call isn't even true. Plenty of average level players would be unsure whether or not to slowplay their AAA or KKK here and sometimes do it. Maybe not great players, but he wasn't one.

The key isn't some 4th level thinking, it's that he's obviously super strong, we just don't know if it's a set, or whether it's AK that he thinks is the nuts (A strong possibility).

Not a terrible fold, but I say it's at least 40-60 he had AK.

It's very possible that BB is strong and intended to raise but decided against it when he realized the guy behind him might make a move or just come along.

Regarding tells and such - his initial immediate reaction was to put a lot of chips in. He gotta be very strong IMHO.

I think the fact that he made this raise with the armenian behind hi m makes it really unlikely hell show up with a bluff or a hand worse than 88
