I've always pronounced "bough" to rhyme with cow, but have never spoken it aloud other than the Christmas Carol and the nursery rhyme previously mentioned.

FWIW: I was a teenager before I realized that the word Nazi from WWII movies and the written word Nazi were the same thing. It just never occured to me that "Nazi" was pronounced "Notsi".

It sure seems whenever I have a problem with electricity, about 40 bystanders know what the problem is and how to fix it.

You're probably right though so how about this one:

How to post without Blarg tearing me a new one.

I actually realized recently that there is no shame in mispronouncing words. When you read a lot, and do it for long enough, you are going to develop a vocabulary that you won't necessarily use in general conversation. So having a store of words that you have read a million times and know what they mean, but don't know how to pronounce, is probably a good thing.

Electricity is all just smoke. If the smoke stays in the wires everything works. When the smoke comes out you are screwed. So just keep the smoke in and things should be fine.

I've read that like half of high school kids can't find Mexico on a map, but I'm skeptical.

I teach high school social studies, and while the number of %50 is pretty high in my opinion. I can easily see it well over 33%.

I think “Find on a map” needs to be defined. If you mean a standard map with countries and capitals marked on it then given enough time anyone who can read can find any country, is there a time limit? Are the countries not marked are you expected to know México’s southern boarder and how much margin for error are you allowed ten miles a hundred?

I'm also pretty bad with those. FYI, I don't think we're supposed to talk about them here.
