[ QUOTE ]

Why do we have to take "control of the hand." Why are we so afraid of letting him fill up when we have position. The last time i checked i don't mind people unknowingly drawing to two outers oop.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't play anywhere this high, but I agree with this. Villain betting into us with pot-sized bets with an underpair is perfect for calling and even if he draws out, we're still ahead because he was never getting odds to draw to those 2 outs. The poster who advocated 3-betting the flop talked about extracting value; I think that calling is the best way to do this. We extract from 99+, who could be putting us on overcards or maybe even an underpair to them if they have something like JJ/QQ. Raising at any point in the hand is helping 99+ get away from their hand cheaply, for fear of them hitting a 2-outer.

I also agree with the previous statements that this is really a safe flop for AA. The pair coming on the flop is good because it lowers the chances of him spiking a set. Here, we're really only worried about 88, instead of three sets on a flop like 10 5 2, where he could easily have 1010, 55, or 22.

After looking at the hand again though, I agree that the river call is very difficult, because assuming is is a decent player, he wouldn't shove with his weaker pairs.

You did butcher the hand and gave up control....but you still have the hand beat IMO a flat call was worse option then folding you raise the end if he did hit a set good for him but insta raise feels about right here.
