It was nearing the dinner break.

People are not giving this the proper consideration. Think about how the game conditions change when people are getting hungry. I think many of you will not only change your minds on this, but end up apologizing to OP that you ever disagreed in the first place.

A very good friend of mine plays at the Hollywood Hard Rock Casino in Florida every night. He told me that his friend just got back from playing in the Foxwood's Poker Classic $10,000 main event. On the first day, the following situation arose. It was nearing the dinner break. 4 players go all-in pre-flop and the action is to his friend. He looks down and finds pocket aces. He is covered by several of the all-ins. He thinks for awhile and then mucks his aces, pre-flop.

Turns out he would have lost the hand. His name is Larry Klur. He ended up finishing 4th and winning $292,264. How many of you would have done that?

[/ QUOTE ]

he (your friend) or larry is lying about the hand. the situation probably did occur and he thought about what he would do with aces and decided it would be fun if he told everyone he had aces and laid it down (and he would have lost, of course!)

please never post about folding AA preflop again.

thanks.

Sir,

I assure you this is the truth. That is why I posted it because when my friend (Kenny) told me the story I was amazed. Larry plays at the Hard Rock all the time. He is a standup guy - no need for stories. I am not sure how I can prove this except to give you my word. You can always come to Florida and verify it yourself. You can also see that Larry came in 4th by going to cardplayer.com.

[/ QUOTE ]

You aren't the one I'm calling a liar.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard an iterration of the same story. Spend about 15 minutes in a cardroom during a tournament and you will have a 1 in 3 shot at hearing some version of this fold AA preflop story.

[censored], and after I staked her so she could win enough to pay for her mother's kidney operation, too...

Also, Larry Klur is a fun name to mumble.

Yep, I knew his name was familiar for another infamous donkey play:

Date / Time: 2006-04-08 08:24AM
Title: Eric "Sheets" Haber Eliminated 22nd ($20,876)
Log: Larry Klur moves all in under the gun. He announces all in but does not push his chips in the middle. It is folded around to Eric "Sheets" Haber in the small blind who announces all in. The big blind folds and Haber looks suprised as Klur turns over Kd-Qc. Haber turns over 10s-3h and the board comes As-Kh-Ks-Qd-5h. Klur has Haber covered and Haber is eliminated from the tournament.

Haber did not realize that Klur had moved all in under the gun and was making a move on the big blind. The floorman is called over and the situation is explained to him. However, the floorman rules that the hand stands and Haber is eliminated.
