Sci-Fi/Space films rarely were coming out before 'Star Wars' in 1977. After it came out, there were much more.

Gleaming the Cube for suburban Skaters. Probably increased 10 fold in my neighborhood.

Not as mainstream, but the Bones Brigade movies, in particular The Search of Animal Chen exploded the skate scene where I lived. It was very positive resulting in lots of half pipes being built throughout the area, including 4 in my backyard.

I have to think Karate Kid inspired tons of little kids to go to the local dojo.

I thought of a good one that I'm certain none of you would know.

8 Mile:

The underdog battler in 8 Mile, B Rabbit, completely destroys everybody he goes against. Line after line, excellent punchline, absolutely no filler, no [censored] ups. This movie was the introduction to emcee battles for MANY people and they totally believe that battlers of B Rabbit's calibre are totally normal and expected.. so when they go to a battle and expect 8 Mile and don't get what they think is a "good" battler, they boo and ruin battles. As soon as someone falls off for 2 seconds or doesn't have an amazing punch, they boo. This messes up the emcees and totally ruins the atmosphere.

I found this post especially interesting. It's different than the rest of our posts. I never thought about heightened expectations ruining an activity. I wonder if there are any other examples of this.

I thought maybe the easy access to internet porn would work. Two ways this could apply. (1)Men expect the woman in their lives to be porn stars as far as sexuality. (2) Men are spoiled as far as the relative attractiveness of women. Just look at some of the low rankings some gorgeous women get in OOT.

Wow...some (most) of you guys are just REALLY bad at this stuff. I thought the ElD forum would have a general higher level of thinking and intelligence involved in the average post....Guess I was wrong.

"THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS" and its effects on riced-out wannabe street racers. Everyone remembers after watching the movie in the theater for the first time the amount of people trying to peel out there '93 Cavaler in the parking lot. We still have to suffer from listening to every Honda Civic drive with an over-sized exhaust tip that makes peoples cars soundslike juiced up lawnmowers. "The Fast and the Furious" started and made the import auto-tuner scene mainstream...

I think the fast and the furious followed the ricer scene, not the other way around.
