HYPOTHETICAL:
You lose your wallet which contains some illicit item. A week later you receive a letter from the police telling you to come and collect your possesions. What is your play? |

[/ QUOTE ] Interesting... At this point, you might as well get it and hope they just pulled your license and didn't find the contraband. If there is something illicit, and they know about it, your claiming it won't make a difference if its full of your IDs and cards and covered in your fingerprints. |

[/ QUOTE ] What kind of illicit item? In general I doubt you could be prosecuted, and if you were going to be I doubt they would send a letter about it. |

[/ QUOTE ] Why wouldn't you get it? They can't prove you ever actually possessed the illicit item. I don't think constructive possession would apply if it was left in some public place like a bar or something, could be wrong though. |

I figured the large chance of getting back a wallet with a few bucks was not worth the smaller chance of getting [censored] over and more importantly the metagame embarassment of handing myself in. Looking back now I think I was being an ultimate life nit.
Edit: I read up online about the lost property protocols for my area when this happened and they are obligated to list everything in a wallet, at the very least when it is returned to you and you sign saying it is your property. So it was a given they would have seen everything in there at some point. I also thought I might get away with it, only to be stopped two steps out the door when I was in actual possession of the illegal items. |

Young black males steal. Fact.
I want a "Get out of 7 day ban" for free card for being senselessly banned in OOT for pointing out a basic factual truth. |

[/ QUOTE ] It wasn't found on your person, so I doubt they could legitimately peg you for it. Just show up and be like "Man, you pig, someone probably put that nude image of a 7 year old boy in my wallet. I'm no sicko perv. Stupid pig." Should be fine. If questioning persists just start yelling "Rodney King!" |

NOTE: "Old Black People" could not be reliably tested because there was only one person who was both "Black" and "Old". Just one person is, of course, way too small of a sampling for a meaningful evaluation. The one "Old Black" who was tested was dishonest and kept the wallet.) [/ QUOTE ] lol |
