SHANIAC, I took that into consideration and four weeks later i walked into the speedway and asked the teller if she had ever had a problem with moneygram, she replied no. I do not agree with cheating a min wage or for that matter a person, IMO a corporate company is a whole differant issue. Corporations do not repect the honest man. They are after the bottom line. I stated in my post if you feel bad give it to youre favriot charity

Just because its a large company, or some faceless entity that probably wouldn't miss it, doesn't exempt you from being decent. Tell them you think they made a mistake let them investigate you might have been eligible for a bonus that you weren't aware of or something else. If thats the case they'll tell you to keep it.

You either have integrity or not, you have to tell them and if its a mistake send it back. If its not a mistake then enjoy the money and feel no guilt.

MrFizzbin got it exactly right... integrity & honesty are most important character traits we have as respectable poker players. (Hell, as respectable human beings.)

Your poker site EARNED their money by providing / hosting a service that you value, that's why we pay rake. Just because they might have an eight or nine digit bank account balance, doesn't make it OK to take something you know isn't yours.

And yeah, after you make a good faith effort to bring the error to their attention, if they still believe the money is yours... by all means, go have a blast with it. Good times!

[/ QUOTE ]

It is very noble what the OP has done. I agree that intigrety and honsty are great virtues. It does make a differance though when it come to corporate world.I dont OP finance situation. 1500 dollers probably pays for one week of office supplies for these guys. Hypothetically speaking whould you rather see a company get 1500 dollers back or donate it to cancer research which might save someone life one day?

Stop making your moves so difficult to pull off. All I seem to enjoy doing is drop kicking in the air, and even then, how long will that last?

These did not seem to gel with most of the posters here, but aaah the memories, the wasted hours.

Is it okay to steal from Walmart?

It is okay to pilfer a few chips from a rich businessman sitting next to you at the table when he isn't looking?

Is it okay to mug Phil Ivey as he comes out of the Bellagio one night?

I'm not saying that keeping the money would be as bad as any of these, but the point is that just because somebody has a lot of money doesn't give you the right to take it. Stealing is stealing whether it's from moneybagspoker.com or from a little old lady walking home late at night. You can't justify this by saying 'it's like rakeback' or 'it makes up for the bad beats' because you and I both know that those are merely excuses (not reasons) that a less scurupulous person would use to keep the money when they wanted to anyway.

The only thing that really matters here is the OPs personal integrity. If he decided to keep it I certainly wouldn't think any the less of him, but he claims to be a person for whom stealing does not fit in with his own moral code. All he can really do is be true to himself and give the money back if he feels like he should. He certainly shouldn't listen to people saying he should keep it just because that is what they would do according to their own moral code.

Humdidum
Eurobet sent a cashout to me in euros instead of dollars, which meant I got $9500 extra. Then they found out about it, and sent me some message in swedish telling telling me I could either deposit back to them or they could withdraw the sum from my account. I replied back in swedish, but then apparently noone working there that day understood swedish, so I had to write the same thing in english. Then they asked me to confirm the sum I received in my bank account. I chose not to reply because I got sick of having to do work to correct their mistakes, and besides they have to have better records than me. That was in january, and I haven't heard from them since. I am like keeping my fingers crossed every day, but I have actually done two cashouts after that with no problems.

OP just received the money, he didnt steal it.
If Phil Ivey drops a 5k chip as he comes out of the Bellagio. isnt that a different story ?
i dont think its stealing.
anyway i wouldnt let this happen if this came all down on 1 person. But if it comes down on a gambling company, i think i would seriously consider keeping the money.

i wish neteller would give me extra monies someday. that stupid withdrawal fee & conversion fee have cost me hundreds of dollars.
