Iggy, awesome post, I agree. I need to own some of those casual dress shirts. I've gone to the bars/club before with the untucked look but the best shirt to choose from that night was a "work" shirt that was all long in the back. I thought it looked lame but really didn't know there was a difference. Now that I know they make these shirts, I would suggest nobody ever wear a dress shirt untucked if it's all long in the back.

It's sort of like wearing a mullett, I guess.

On second thought, if you are rocking a mullett, I suppose it would be OK to wear the long shirt.

Instructive and all, but who the hell doesn't know this. I mean, I haven't bought clothes in a year, and even I know the difference between a button-down shirt that's worn untucked and a dress shirt with a round edge that's a mandatory tuck-in. Pretty sure this was a part of my junior high school dress code.

Ross,

I see it everytime I go out from the majority of guys who are wearing untucked shirts. I thought it was common knowledge also, but apparently it isn't. I think it's more from guys trying to fit the norm of everyone else out in a club/bar, but that's not their normal attire. They think it's just any button down and jeans will do.

Pretty sure someone from the East Texas woods shouldn't be talking down to people about pretty much anything other than logging or being emo.

FWIW, I see it all the time in clubs, guys wearing the untucked dress shirt that swoops way down in the back.

Well, the variety and frequency of examples of human ignorance never ceases to amaze, etc. etc. etc.

I just have to assume that they know and don't care, or think it looks hip-hop or something.

As for your dig, I think the fact that you think this is discussion-worthy says a lot about your level of sophistication.

I really don't see a problem with helping other dudes gain this common knowledge. We all have to learn somewhere. I'm grateful when my friends point out stuff that I do is supremely stupid and I have no clue about it.

I think the fact that you posted this means your memory was recently erased and you forgot that this was probably a revelation to 1/2 of OOT. This is the same forum where people ask things like "i didn't get a bill for 2 months, now they want me to pay. do i have to?".

Noah: Is there a full video version of your avatar? It looks amazing and I want to watch it.

Hey, I'm not objecting, or anything, and if I'm making fun it's only mildly so. I'm just somewhat surprised that this tuck-notuck issue elicited, like, diagrams and [censored]. I'm sure I'm setting myself up for supreme self-ownage the next time I ask a really obvious question about something that everybody knows all about but me; we all do it. But... wow. You know?
