Re: If i drop a cockroach....
[ QUOTE ]
FWIW, the terminal velocity of a penny is about 25-30MPH,when falling end over end. You'd do more "damage" throwing it at someone as hard as you could at close range than you would do by dropping it off a skyscraper. [/ QUOTE ] I'm curious, do you know what it is if you spin the penny so it stays upright? |

Re: If i drop a cockroach....

I dont think you guys understand the concept of terminal velocity. It doesnt matter if you drop a cat from 100 feet or the top of Earth's atmosphere, its going to hit the ground at the same speed and therefore receive the same injuries. [/ QUOTE ] But from the atmosphere it has a much better chance of being impaled on a spike. J |

[ QUOTE ] So like humans would have a terminal velocity as well then? So like all ppl who sky dive fall at around the same speed because they all reach their terminal velocity? [/ QUOTE ] yes, around 120mph. read the wiki article. [/ QUOTE ] You can test this by simply hanging someone out of your car window with a rope while driving at 120 miles per hour on the interstate. |

I'm curious, do you know what it is if you spin the penny so it stays upright? [/ QUOTE ] Offhand, I'd say in the neighborhood of 65-75MPH..but it wouldn't stay on edge long and would eventually tumble end over end. |

Re: If i drop a cockroach....
I've heard of people dying from bullets falling back down to earth when shot into the air. I wonder if a .22 would be capable of killing someone or if it has to be a larger caliber to have a high enough terminal velocity. Of course it all depends on where it hits.
I'm fairly certain a .22 falling back down to earth hitting someone in the nuts would be fairly painful and damaging. |

Re: If i drop a cockroach....
considering that bullets are designed to move well through air, as long as the bullet didn't start off tumbling it would definitely be lethal
a .22 is kind of weak though, who knows. i mean, serpico got shot in the face right? |
