1) USC
2) FSU
3) tOSU
4) OU
5) Miami
6) Texas
7) UF
8) LSU
9) Mich
10) Tenn

the top 5 is super tough and i think any homer can make a pretty good case for their respective teams.

and people valuing win % and season ending rankings as equal BCS and NC games? wtf. the latter should be weighted much more. dominance is huge.

ps. im really torn on where to put lsu.

I really think LSU should go last or 2nd to last. I don't think you can make a case for them being better than anybody but Michigan or Nebraska.

UT should be higher than LSU, they have a winning record against them in the 10 years, higher conf win%, higher win%, more consistent, play in a tougher division.

Maybe???

Being a SEC "fanboy", I didn't want to go proclaiming they are with out any actual data. How do the conferences break down over the past decade? Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]

I broke down the Sagarin ratings from 2001-2005 and the Pac-10 came out on top with the ACC second. The real conclusion is, while there was some year to year variance, there really wasn't a lot of discrepancy from the big 5 conferences over that five year span. I would suspect that over any ten year period in the BCS era, this would be the case. The real question is, was 2006 an aberration for the Big East or are we finally talking about a true big 6 conferences?

They sort go hand in hand. Or more to the point, dick in mouth for meth money.

The temptation is to rate USC and UF high, but it's unfair to penalize Miami for having it's good run in the middle of the decade instead of the end. 1 NC with and NC loss(very narrow defeat) is enough to build a good resume. Watching some of those old Miami games on ESPN classic is bizarre, at times it seems like every skill position guy is a future Pro Bowler.

At one point the WR core had at least two of these guys playing at the same time: Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, I think they were actually all on the roster at once. Also, Gore, Portis, and Magahee were all there together. I'm not gonna go on with the defense, but those teams were so stacked with NFL talent it was sick. Didn't Dorsey only get sacked a handful of times in his career?

not to be an a-hole, but the michigan pick is horrible.

I would go with:
1. USC (it's close but the way they've dominated the last five years, winning 2 titles in a row etc gives them the nod imo. No team has been truly dominant for such a long period as USC. Even Miami's sick sick teams were only 2-3 years)
2. Miami ('01 team is one of the best ever)
3. Florida
4. Florida State
5. Ohio State
6. Oklahoma
7. LSU
8. Texas
9. Michigan
10. Tennessee
