I decide to somewhat underbet the pot to look a little weak in hopes that AC had 55-TT and would decide that this was his spot to push.

So I bet out 1800 and Alan calls, which kind of surprised me.

Turn card brings a T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Allen checks again. What's my move?

I'm a little lost now because of the flop underbet. If I'd put in a big flop bet, consistent with my pre-flop three-bet on this board, then I'd bet the turn. Now, I think I'd check behind.

There are a couple of interesting things about the situation preflop and OP's raise. First of all, aside from stealing from the limpers, OP's raise gives him great deception. No one has any idea what he has. AC limp/calls and people put him on a very tight range of 55-TT. This gives OP an advantage. On the other hand, OP winds up playing a big pot with a junk hand against a world class player.

I don't think it is that much of an underbet, but would OP make the small bet with AA, AK, or some junk that missed the flop? OP intends to play the hand strongly, so I would just make a decent sized bet, which would be consistent with my preflop play and intended play on later streets.

Also, I think you have to play this hand fast. Assuming villain has something like 99, he has 5 outs on the turn and 8 outs on the river to make a hand that crushes yours.

So after he checks to me on the turn, I bet out 4200.

I was honestly uncertain at the time as to whether or not I would call a reraise all-in (I know this is a huge mistake), but I was hoping it wouldn't come to that.

Alan thinks for a few moments and does his thing where he kind of looks you up and down out of the corner of his eye, and finally calls.

River brings the 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Alan checks once more.

1) Is there a good chance I'm even still ahead here?
2) If so, can I make a thin value bet here, or against a player like AC, is checking behind the far superior choice and hoping to God I'm still ahead?

preflop is bad, flop is bad, turn is good. now make the river good too.

The way AC, played the hand, looks like he wanted a cheap show down. I am fairly confident you are ahead.

If you value bet small, are you ready to call his shove?
I think you have to, because your bet size induces a bluff.
I think a shove is wrong as it lets him get away cheaply when way behind, and he calls easily when way ahead.
You can position your value bet so you have to call his shove. But I think this is even worse than a shove as it looks stronger.

Can also understand checking this down here, but I feel we are ahead.

AC doesn't even have a PSB left here. If you're betting, shove, which I'm doing because AC gets it in on the turn if he has you beat.

Am I the only one here that REALLY doesn't get Alan's line, unless he's trapping someone who he thinks is a very good player?

I agree. Allen has you beat so just check the river and be happy you didn't get c/r on the river.
