Re: The Greatest Movie Sub-Genre: Zombie Flicks
I dig the Italian zombie flicks. City of the Living Dead, Zombie etc. Not on the same level as Romero's films for me, but still very entertaining.

Re: The Greatest Movie Sub-Genre: Zombie Flicks
Sometime I realized while watching the Ving Rhames version of Dawn of the Dead: I believe it's the only zombie movie (at least the only one i've seen) where you're led to believe that all of the characters die at the end. In all other zombie movies, there is always an ending that leads you to believe everything will be alright, the world will be fine, blah blah blah. Not so in this one. They get extra props from me for being original in this sense.

Re: The Greatest Movie Sub-Genre: Zombie Flicks
I thought the characters escaped to an island at the end of the Dawn remake. Anyway, at the end of Lucio Fulci's Zombie the two main characters do escape the zombie island in the end, only to find out that the rest of the world has been overrun by zombies as well. It is implied that they have nowhere to go and will die.

I thought the characters escaped to an island at the end of the Dawn remake. [/ QUOTE ] If you watch through the credits, it shows their boat running out of fuel, they float to an island but it's overrun with zombies. A hand-held camera is supposed to be filming it at that point. It's laying on the dock and you hear gunshots as the zombies run up. One dead zombie falls with his bloody, zombie face directly in front of the camera and you hear "oh AH AH AH AH" and "Down with the Sickness" starts as the final credits roll. It's [censored] awesome. |
