Okay, lets say you go to France and you speak French decently enough and you start dating a French girl who doesn't know a damn bit of English. After a date or two she comes up and says in really lousy english, " I want you to [censored] me today " and is all proud of herself. Would her doing this have absolutely ANYTHING to do with your attraction to her? My guess is probably YES . [/ QUOTE ] FYP. |

[ QUOTE ]
I have game, just little experience dealing with women who aren't native to the US. [/ QUOTE ] Well, you got the general idea anyway. It's not like they're from another planet. She's from another country so she has an accent, her home country has some different customs, and they eat some different foods. No biggie. I really believe you are WAY over-thinking this. Just being open-minded and not all, "OMG gross!! you eat seaweed?!?! That's so freaking weird!!" and also interested in perhaps showing her around to see something American perhaps she hadn't seen before or something. Even then, giving a laughing judgement at something from another culture can be okay if everyone's comfortable and it's in the right context (such as my reaction when I learned my GF from Peru loves to eat guinea pig. Ummmm, WTF?) Just play it by ear and if it happens between you two then it happens just like with pretty much any other girl I think. I would think the general idea convo that you've probably already had of, "What do you think of Miami?" ...."Oh really...so how would they do that where you're from?" and stuff like that would be fine. You asking about her political views about the 'new' Hong Kong may or may not be a good idea but she's almost certain to have an opinion. Recently they 'celebrated' the 10-year anniversary of handing over of Hong Kong back to China from British rule. But there are many who very much preferred the 'old days'. You may have already talked about this. I don't think you really need to go out of your way to learn about Hong Kong's history or anything because she would probably be fine just telling you about it. |

I actually did try it a few months ago when we went back to her country.
She loved it, first time she had it in 12-13 years I believe. I thought it was okay. But I still make fun of it because I think it's kind of funny and a little weird. 4th of July we had a BBQ at some of their friends in town who are also from South America too. They were talking in spanish about different foods and preparations from different regions and I wasn't really following it. can barely pick up an occasional word to figure out what the general conversation is about. They all talk so freaking fast!!! But then one of them mentioned how in some poorer regions outside the city it's not unheard of to eat cats and that caught my attention. GF's Mom was somewhat embarassed that I was able to understand that part. |
