Rick Diesel --

Deals of that type are not uncommon. Strictly speaking I haven't heard of one dealing specifically with a first-time-live Internet guy, but I didn't raise an eyebrow at the OP and I've heard of them in roughly similar situations.

Shane --

That's all fair. And I'd ask for a lower price too (not that I'm on your level, or Noah's). I just wanted to speak to the perceived absurdity of the offer.

All,
Like I said before I agree that I shouldn'tve posted this and I regret posting it. I wasn't gonna reply anymore, but since a bunch of people asked me questions and it's clearly not about to die, I guess I'll respond.

Shane,
This isn't the kind of deal where it matters how many tourneys it's over. This deal gives the exact same EV (assuming I'd have the same ROI) if it were for two tourneys with half the buy-in.

Obviously the second scenario would have lower variance, though. Maybe that's what you mean?

Bakes,

Am I bluffing?

Bob,
No. This'll be my first big event. I'm 20, so I'm not allowed to play most events, and school has gotten in the way of the others.

FWIW, I've started going almost every night to a card club and playing whatever tourneys and cash they have open (usually $2/$4 uncapped NL and $100 or $200 MTTs with [censored] structures). So I'm getting enough live experience to at least be comfortable. My chip trick skills are sick :P.

Augie,
You want me to sell 1% for $130? You have to realize how silly that is. I came up with the number I'm using by asking people what they thought was reasonable.

Clayton,
Nice.

Bond,
I know.. wasn't talking to you.

Exit,
Thanks man.

Yes, I mean the variance associated with backing in general, plus your inexperience, makes the price you are asking for seem a little high.

his ROI needs to be like 50% or 75% or something for this to be a good deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, which is it? 50, or 75%, cause there is a big difference.

[/ QUOTE ]

37.4%

Edit: Does Noah even play a lot of tournaments?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. Granted, not as much as shaundeeb or anything, but I've played a lot of tourneys with a good ROI. I'd get the actual numbers out, but PT gets mad when I try and open my tourney db while I'm playing.

It was more a matter of others buying-in a majority of his buy-in for him I guess (as opposed to already being in the tourney and then selling yourself).

[/ QUOTE ]

Not that I think it changes anything, but I'm buying in direct.

I'm selling myself at face value for the upcoming bellagio tourneys(five star) and maybe the main event at Indiana($5k). I've played over 40 live major events with a near 100% ROI, I guess I'm pretty silly.

After all this pseudo-drama, you will definitely win; I suggest not selling pieces.

btw, what is your Stars SN?

i didnt know this was against the rules either, fwiw. ill probably end up doing the same thing for monte carlo, pm me if interested. but i have over a dozen 500+ tournaments at least half of those above 1k, including ept dortmund and the pca and all those side events. with zero cashes obv and a negative roi on stars, id prob sell for face value lolz.

whoops.
