No decision has been made whether to offer the money as part of a tournament or return to the affected players if possible.

WSEX GM:

There is something in your story which I don't understand. You said that you could not detect Dac's bot usage before the time when he was cashing out, because you just got new tools only then.

How did your tools find out then that he was using a bot? It appears to me that your tools could only find that out while he was playing, not when he was cashing out?

[/ QUOTE ]

The tools are unrelated to him cashing out.

I will not discuss how they work for obvious reasons.

im pretty sure dac was playing late last night with me at a 50nl table so the timing with the cashout could be a coincidence

I agree the response and support from Fred are above and beyond, and not just in this thread.

Where is the praise for doing something about the bots?

[/ QUOTE ]

Doing something about the bots, A+. Taking customers money in ways that appear arbitrary and that benefit you, F-.

[ QUOTE ]
PS- I still don't see the player denying anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I'm not the judge of anything here, but OP seems suspect. If guilty of botting he gets no sympathy from me, nor I suspect from 2+2. My concerns are more with WPEXs business practices. How they may lead to other accused players, who are either not guilty or reformed or ignorant or are false positives or whatever, getting their money taken. It reeks of shadyness, and I'm hoping it gets further discussion here whatever the particulars of DAC's case may be.

And for the record, no PT and no HUDs and no bots would be a positive in my book, so I got no problems with those policies. Just how they are being applied.

I haven't heard you deny you were using some type of bot.

Guilty until proven innocent?

[/ QUOTE ]

Op admitted to using software. GM says it was a bot. OP responds that he isnt going to say what it was.

Looks pretty guilty to me

WSEX GM, let me point out one thing about poker players. For whatever reason, poker players are very much sticklers for fairness.

I really think you need to provide a bit more justification to the individual in question, and also since this is a public forum provide some reassurance to the rest of us.

I think the minimum requirements might be something like you telling us that

a) you have seen the evidence and that you are satisfied he was running a bot

b) you make clear your stance on things like autohotkey scripts which make it ergonomically easier to play poker, for example being able to hit a button to bet pot instead of typing it in.

c) you make clear your HUD rules and whether it is illegal to use them. If you plan on conficasting funds based on HUD usage I think it is only fair that you explicitly state this and give the holdem grinders an amnesty period before you implement it, in the interests of fairness.
