Re: Best films about drug use and addiction?
Been years since I last watched it, but there's the nutty La Luna
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079495/ The only oedipal film I can recall. The son is a junky, IIRR. Mom really goes to the limits to try and get her sn distracted off the junk, if you know what I mean. |

Re: Best films about drug use and addiction?
Geez, where do you find these films DB!
"the scene where Joe licks the dirt off his mothers face is at once touching and erotic..." Lol. Sounds really awkward and uncomfortable to me. I'm tempted to add it to my queue. |

I have to recommend SPUN http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spun Amazing, sick independet movie about methamphetamine slackers and a meth cook (Mickey Rourke) [/ QUOTE ] Good movie, but I think they stole too much from Requiem... It has one of the best cover songs ever (The Number Of The Beast by Zwan) as a bonus though. NP: Napalm Death - Fatalist |

The fatal flaw of RfaD is it's an unpleasant film to watch - and, yet, as Trainspotting and Christiane F show, you don't have to make an unpleasant, unwatchable film just because you're dealing with an unpleasant topic. [/ QUOTE ] You have masters in film and think being unpleasant is a flaw? "Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma" is one of the most unpleasant films I've ever seen but it's also one of the best films I've seen. NP: Sepultura - Morbid Visions |

[/ QUOTE ] I can't remember a thing about it, other than at one point the junky tries to open up his arm with a carving knife to get the junk in, and his mom starts making out with him. It could be great, could be terrible, I really can't remember. |

The Gospel According to St Matthew, Hawks and Sparrows, Oedipus Rex, heck for me even the Canterbury Tales are so much better. |

NP: Witchery - Ashes [/ QUOTE ] I didn't like this movie the first time. But the second, after the shock value had worn off, I really liked it. The movie isn't about the characters, the movie is about addiction. Addiction is the protagonist and from that point of view I think the movie is done very well. |
