Settlers of Catan
Monopoly is great once you have a business major bringing in fresh ideas. In our last game, we actually ended up purchasing shares of each other's properties. This also helps the person who got screwed by not having much property but a lot of money whenever you want to buy hotels. (Investor) Crovax |

Stratego
Othello Twister (it's just a really BIG board-game) Trouble (because of the little poppy thing for the dice) |

Candyland
Because the winner is already decided before the game starts (by the cards), and you just have to unravel your fate.... Just like life |

Kremlin, I think it was published by Avalon Hill. The game involves maneuvering Soviet politicos into power and having them wave to the crowd as the supreme Soviet leader during the May Day parade. Never have I had so much fun playing a game I never won, but it helps to play with people who don't mind both dishing out and taking backstabbings with good humor.
My friends and I like to play the Empire Builder/British Rails series of games, particularly the Euro and Australian versions, but we have done a lot of tweaking to the payloads and the rules to bring the games into balance. As published they aren't all that great. |

My big three are chess, go and StreetSoccer. I've been playing chess for about 14 years now, if you count the 11 year break I took in the middle. I've been playing go more consistently, but not nearly as long--only about five years.
Not a lot of people have heard of StreetSoccer, but it's a fun game, a little bit like backgammon. It requires enough thought to be interesting, but it isn't as demanding as chess or go is, which is nice sometimes. |

Settlers is great. There's a website where you can play it for free online. I'll try to find the link.
Axis and Allies is great, but I haven't played a game of it in years. I've played Monopoly to death. I used to enjoy it a lot, but not so much anymore. Ticket to Ride is decent. Everyone loves trains. Ninja Burger is good fun, uses cards instead of a board. I love board games. |
