Im focussing solely on opening up my game before I move back up to 100nl. Ive been doing "okay" there but if I dont get the hang of a moderaetely LAG game Im gonna keep getting crushed. So far its going pretty well:

lol I know ur SN

also, why do you think TAG is no good at nl100?

[/ QUOTE ]

TAG play is just too simple. If you cant think in ranges, value bet thin, know when to fold, when to cbet, when to raise, when to work with pot control, when to apply pressure, when to yield to pressure, when to raise a cbet, when to fold a cbet to a raise ETC ETC ETC then you just wont be able to find an edge and you will get crapped on because you will be so predictable.

Learning how to play AKo in reraised pots when you miss. Learning when to give up after you've 3bet light. There are so many situations that a TAG just wont encounter and therefore wont know how to deal with. Me, I always used to play 18/14/2.0, just basic straightforward stuff. The problem is that the same game which got me 9ptbb/100 at 50nl is getting me -9ptbb/100 at 100nl because I am constantly being put under pressure that I cant deal with, spewing chips where I shouldnt, not value betting where I should etc etc just because I would consciously AVOID all of those situations in my old game, because they are unprofitable.

As MSNL'er "True" told me, "You'll never learn anything playing that way (18/14)" and he is totally right. You will never ever learn how to play POKER if you play nit, and 100nl is where it becomes extremely obvious who can play and who cant.

Well yeah, In some ways I agree with you Ama, but not with 100NL as the cutoff ... more like 400NL.

TAG is just fine ... all you have to do is to be able to see who is who at your tables.

You valuebet the fish nit style and those applying pressure, well them you either just avoid or grow balls against and just raise your aggression, both pf and post.

It isn't the low vpip that usually is an issue, it's the low AF ... I played a lot of nit, but my aggression factor usually is at LEAST above five.

TAG entails a lot of bluffing ... LAG you can just fool around, potcontrol ... give up a few flops etc etc. ... a paradox indeed

IMO 100nl is a huge jump. I owned the hell out of 50nl but the 100nl regs were something else. FWIW when I say "lagro" I mean more like 23/18, which is basically TAGro. Thats the game im trying to implement before I go back to 100nl. 18/14 just wont cut it there at all, and so far Ive really enjoyed putting myself in far more marginal situations.

Yeah it is all good, you're not a bad player, so you should pwn 100NL, whether it is 18/14, 25/20 or whatever
