Ok, I'm totally lost.

Burning DVDs still doesn't work. I've tried 3 different types of DVDs, have bought a new Burner, tried burning different parts of the HD, made a thorough HD check. Said HD is 1 month old, btw. I don't have any indication of HD failure, naturally.
I've also tried coyping a DVD without even using the HD to buffer the stuff (completely disk-to-disk). Still I get loads of errors if I check the burned DVD after the fact.

Burning CDs seems to work. Since I'm using an external Burner and usually burn DVDs at 4x speed, could it be that I burn them to slooowwww????????

Or could it be that those supposed write errors are flukes or something?

Edit: Ok, on those DVDs I copied, there's one 4GB encrypted file. So I'd assume that a write error - even if it goes by unnoticed by windows would really [censored] up the file. It appears, however, that I can not only copy the file from the burned DVD back to the HD, I can also decrypt the file AND copy the content of the encrypted container back to the HD. Weird.

Try different (slower) burn speeds. Some burners and media are rated higher than they can reliably burn.
