Chicken,

Basically,

You earn VPP for raked hands. The formula's a little messy so I won't get into it.

Your VIP level is determined by how much VPP you earn per month (or per year in the case of SuperNova and SuperNova Elite).

You earn FPP based on your VPP earned multiplied by your VIP level. For example, at Gold, FPP=VPP*2. (At Bronze, the default level, FPP=VPP)

You can spend FPP to buy stuff from the Stars store. There are bonuses available in the store, and that's why everyone refers to it as rakeback however if there's any merchandise you want you can sometimes get a better rate of return on your points, particularly if you consider sales tax (because you don't pay sales tax on Stars sore purchses which you would at a regular store) ie: When I got my TV I got way better value than any of the bonuses.

This thread does a lot of the math:

Thanks. Just a few Q's:

What is MGR?

Is $.015 per FPP just an estimate based on the value of items/bonuses you can buy at the store? Is that base FPPs?

Once you begin generating VPPs, does that increase the value of each base FPP even moreso?

[/ QUOTE ]

Monthly Gross Revenue.

If you were getting 27% rakeback at FTP(?) you were getting 27% of your MGR back.

It's the amount of rake collected devided by the number of players in the hand. For example, if you played a hand with 8 other players and the rake was $1, the MGR is $.11.

It's actually immaterial at Stars, it's only used as a comparison to other sites, like FTP, which base their rakeback on MGR.

It's based on the $1500 Supernova Bonus. This bonus costs 100,000 FPP. So 1FPP=$.015.

If you're only Gold or Platinum and you choose to buy a smaller bonus you won't get as good a rate of exchange (Only Supernova or better can buy the $1.5K bonus). If you're going to eventually become a SuperNova and you're going the bonus route (as opposed to merchandise) it's better to wait until you can get the big bonus.

Only once you hit new VIP levels.

When you start out at Bronze, you get 1FPP for every VPP you generate.

When you hit Silver you get 1.5FPP for every VPP you earn.

At Gold you get 2FPP for every VPP you earn.

Etc.

It doesn't matter how you generate VPPs - tournament fees, high limit, low limit. Whatever. It's all the same. However, at micros it can be difficult to generate VPPs.
