Re: **2007 AFC South Thread**
Good stuff. I wouldn't say the Jags refused to throw the ball though, it was close to 50/50 if you count the plays Garrard ran on passing plays. Also, there was about 7 runs inside the 2 yard line lol. I think they took a good step forward in the passing game just got to get more consistent overall.

Is it to early to say that the AFC South is the best division in football?

Re: **2007 AFC South Thread**
Week 4 in Preview:
HOU @ ATL OVERVIEW: Whew, just what the doctor ordered. For the Texans, this should be like a bye week with the added bonus of getting to build some momentum. Since it's likely HOU can beat the Falcons without WR Andre Johnson, there seems little reason to rush him back this week. He'll be able to heal up while watching his team beat up on a team that's going nowhere in a hurry. This will give us a chance to see if the Texans are for real, as this is a game they clearly should win. LOCATION: The game is in ATL, but given the mess the Falcons' franchise is in, that shouldn't matter. HOU-27 ATL-10 DEN @ IND OVERVIEW: Well here it is. For the past 5 years, DEN has built it's team seemingly for one reason: to beat the Colts. "Peyton beat us for 400 yards? Draft more CBs" "What? He did it again, trade for more CBs" etc etc. It finally seems to be working however, and DEN is giving up an NFL-best ~88 Passing yards/game. This game hasn't been hyped up very much but this may really be an early season "Unstoppable force v. Immovable object" game. Everyone is aware of what Peyton and Co. can do, but now we'll get to see if a Defense taylor made to stop them can put up a fight. LOCATION: I can't think of one team in the NFL that wants to play in the Dome in Indy. To say nothing of the crowd noise, the carpet might give the edge to the Colts receivers despite the skill of the DEN corners. IND-31 DEN-21 JAX-Bye TEN-Bye Cody |

Center Grove) but I was under the impression that it's rubber base gave better grip then did natural grass. Cody |

Cody [/ QUOTE ] that's true. but lots of teams have Field Turf now, even outdoor teams (like the Pats for instance) edit, I found the list in a related ranking list. here it is. where it's blank they have grass 1 Tampa Bay 2 Seattle (FieldTurf) 3 Carolina 4 Detroit (FieldTurf) 5 Baltimore (Sportexe) 6 Arizona 7 Atlanta (FieldTurf) 8 Jacksonville 9 Indianapolis (FieldTurf) 10 San Diego 11 St. Louis (FieldTurf) 12 Denver 13 Washington 14 Cincinnati (FieldTurf) 15 Houston 16 New York Giants/Jets (FieldTurf) 17 San Francisco 18 Green Bay 19 New Orleans (Sportexe) 20 Miami 21 Tennessee 22 Dallas (RealGrass) 23 Philadelphia 24 Minnesota (FieldTurf) 25 Buffalo (Astroplay) 26 Kansas City 27 Chicago 28 Cleveland 29 Pittsburgh 30 New England (Before FieldTurf) 31 Oakland Raiders double edit: Denver still has grass, as do all of their divisional opponents, so yeah that is an adjustment for them to make |

I'm pretty sure that guys are wearing the same shoes on field turf that whey would be wearing on a decent grass field in good weather. |

The only difference is that when you play on field turf you change from metal screwins to 100% plastic. Though some people do choose to wear molded cleats. |

Re: **2007 AFC South Thread**
A good column by Vic. Mostly about the Jags but the last 3 or 4 points talk about the division and he gives a lot of props to the other teams in the division.
Vic's 9/26 column Just a note: I know some of you question Vic's bias(:eh hem: TNM :eh hem, his "ask" columns tend to be more of a forum like approach and sometimes bias and comedy find their ways into it(he is mostly talking to Jags fan there). But, his columns are his true work and they are usually great reads. He did see some great football during those years in Pittsburgh. |
