i seem to recall him striking out two batters and allowing zero runs

well good thing you use him in high leverage situations

[/ QUOTE ]

fyi, dempster has better numbers in '07 than both howry and wuertz.

as far as eyre goes, if lou is going to keep him on the team, at least he's using him in blowouts.

Jones is gone!!! Hooray Marlins!!!

The Cubs still have to pay part of his salary, but at least he won't be playing for them.

This better not be some kind of sick joke.

Soriano's single last night is the biggest hit for the Cubs this year according to WPA (+.722).

I wonder if Tulowitzki's HR was the biggest hit they've allowed (-.555).

Crazy Fangraph for that game.

marlins cubs deal off

The deal was announced as official earlier this afternoon, but as you can read, it collapsed. I sincerely apologize for getting everyone-myself included-excited that this worthless waste of a roster spot was history.

I knew the Jones deal was too good to be true when I heard we only had to pay them $1M and we were getting a decent young prospect in return. The Marlins would have to be complete morons to do that.

I can understand the Marlins taking him if we basically pay most of his remaining salary. But there's no way they do it if they have to pay his inflated salary.
