Assuming the deal goes through as stated, so no Al Jefferson (*tears*):

Starting 5: Perk, KG, Pierce, Allen, Rondo
Bench: Gomes, Tony Allen (once he heals), Pruitt.. that's about it. Maybe the Wallace kid grabs some minutes, same with Powe. And of course who could forget Big Scal.

If they keep Al and ship Gomes, then I guess Perk goes to the bench and subs in for both Garnett and Big Al.

Either way, we're pretty desperate for a back up PG.

funny that CNNSI is reporting basically the opposite, that not only is Jefferson in the deal, but the TWolves seem to want Rondo involved too.

ha.. no way. I guess we'd let KG run the point.

As the trade currently stands, the Celtics would send Jefferson, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and two first-round picks to the Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett.

Ok... at this point I am no longer excited.

I'm excited for Telfair and Ricky Davis spending some quality time together.

Can Gomes really be a deal breaker, though? I definitely want to hold on to him, but I think it's a smart move on McHale's part to gun for him. He's only a league average guy that Doc mismanages by playing him at the 3 anyway.

Gomes = the Trot Nixon of the Celts

A guy that is serviceable and gives his all every minute. We already got rid of 1/2 of those guys in Delonte. I just hate to see another go too.

Over/Under on the time it takes for one of them to be in jail?

Also I hope they don't corrupt Big Al. I really hate to see him go. He was almost in tears last time he was being mentioned on the block pleading to let him stay. Sigh.

Big Al is not a big fan of Ricky Davis or Mark Blount. He was glad to see them go.

I wouldn't worry about the bench so much. Complimentary players are all over the league. Remember Bruce Bowen when he was with the Celts. He didn't seem like much of a player until you put him on the spurs.

And you really only need 3 decent players off the bench. Now if you're talking about depth, that's a little different but basically the new big three have to stay healthy for this to work anyway.

I feel like I should be really excited having just woke up and read the last 30 or so replies in here.

but i'm not.

KG-Pierce-Allen is appealing, but I mean..

It seems like 2-3 years of an above-average team, and then we fall back to shambles.

I can't really picture us being a championship contender with this big 3 (and Doc )
