Re: Celtics
Wow.
Current Incarnation of Trade Doesn't Include Jefferson "Kevin Garnett soon could become the newest member of the Celtics, multiple league sources said this afternoon, but two of the sources cautioned that any trade may not be as imminent as some early reports indicated. As the trade currently stands, the Celtics would send Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and two first-round picks to the Timberwolves for Garnett. Al Jefferson is not included in the deal at the moment." http://www.boston.com/sports/basketb.../celtics_blog/ |

Re: Celtics
I think year 1 they disappoint, and when KG/PP/Allen all get asked whether they think coaching had anything to do with it, they'll say, "Doc is a nice guy."
Then maybe they land Jeff Van Gundy and learn how to defend against screens? |

Re: Celtics
A) No way we get Garnett without shipping Big Al. I'd be shocked. I'm generally not a fan of the Globe's ripoff version of Celtics Blog. The real cetlics blog is much better and much more reliable.
B) How would that even work? Play KG at center? C) I could only really see it happening if they weren't planning on extending KG's contract. They couldn't afford to extend both Al and KG. |

Re: Celtics
Making this deal instantly makes the Celtics relevant again in a city with the Red Sox and Patriots. I have zero interest in going to a game next year without the deal (as much as I love Big Al) and a lot of interest in buying season tickets if we make it.
If they actually keep Big Al this is a total fleecing, draft picks included or not (they will be late 1st rounders anyway) ~Justin |

Re: Celtics
Seriously, someone explain to me how keeping Big Al makes any sense. KG already means they're paying a good chunk of luxury tax. Keeping Big Al would add probably another $25-30M in payroll (half of that luxury tax). '
As for the draft picks, people forget that Big Al and Green were mid first rounders, and Rondo a late first rounder. Ainge hasn't shown any competence with high draft picks. He's shown, albeit with a small sample size, that he thrives in finding good value in those areas. Loosing mid/late first rounder isn't really no big deal. This is really just putting all your eggs in one basket and going for it. With Doc at the helm.. *sigh*. |

Re: Celtics
Actually, what I'm most worried about, is how shallow their bench will be if this goes through.

Re: Celtics
funny that CNNSI is reporting basically the opposite, that not only is Jefferson in the deal, but the TWolves seem to want Rondo involved too.
