hay guys!!

i am getting audited!!!

kinda. got a letter from ga dept of rev asking to see documentation of my gambling losses.

is date and win or loss per table in a spread sheet going to be sufficient?

e.g. session_start: 11/16/2006 16:35:11 session_end: 11/16/2006 17:19:07 co_won: 1043

i also have a rakeback summary in the spreadsheet.

consult a trained professional who is familiar with GA dept. of rev. worth the $250, or whatever an hour will cost.

it would proabbly be better to show a printout of account activity in stars or whatever site, showing the gambling activity actually took place.

tilt,

unfortunately i can't consult with anyone since i'm in d.c. and this [censored] is due on the 16th.

here's a better excel file that i made:

Code:

11/28/2006 15:02:07 11/28/2006 15:28:41 FTP Maryland (6 max) $15/$30 (6 max) 315.5
11/28/2006 14:47:33 11/28/2006 14:59:52 FTP MacArthur (6 max) $15/$30 (6 max) 491
11/28/2006 14:43:34 11/28/2006 14:45:24 FTP MacArthur (6 max) $15/$30 (6 max) 31

also, unfortunately, there's some kind of problem. i made a quickie excel sheet when i was doing my taxes and i made it in 2007 beta, so i can only open that now. it says my total wins were $X42,454.74 and my total losses were $X39,048.00.

the new sheet that i did right now says my total wins were $X08,529.31 and my total losses were $X09,220.33

(x is the hundered thousands mark, just so i'm not bragging completely [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

grrrr so i don't know what the deal is....

ugh im def going to PIMA prison.

Shadow,

if you want the spreadsheet converted to a previous version send it to me @earthlink.net and I'll make a 2003 whatever you need.

yer fuct.

i'd call the phone number on the form/letter/mailing and politely request that they fax you a written description of acceptable documentation that they want to see.

then, receive the fax and go from there.

??? There is a new fangled invention called a telephone and a newer one called email. You should be able to talk to someone in DC as well. GA state tax law is a piece of cake compared to other states like California. Even if they are not up to date on GA tax laws, any competent tax preparer or tax law person should be able to help you out fairly easily. It's not rocket science after all [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] (yet my tax guy F'd up this year [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img])

BTW, I'm not sure if a spreadsheet is gonna cover it.... umm how hard is it to fabricate numbers that way? [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

when people say you can deduct your gambling losses, does this only apply when you have netted a negative amount gambling overall for the whole year?

the way i did was through turbotax.

i totalled my cumulative wins in excel and my cumulative losses. turbo tax asks for gambling wins and gambling losses. i put those two numbers in, respectively. i also put my rakeback dollars in gambling wins. that might be bad, but whatever. you can only deduct gambling losses up to the amount of gambling wins, however.
