Tonight was just another example why Smoltz will be a first ballot HoF'er.

And again.

Dont worry Bob, it will happen.

Was this directed at Me or MicroBob?

You. All in fun.

Braves needed a win bad today. Got to admit the Mets are looking tough (except vs. Atl.) If Atl can stay close in the standings and then keep beating the Mets like they have been it's very possible. Losing Gonzalez is a huge blow. A wildcard wouldnt be bad and might be the best we can hope for, then get a shot at NY in the playoffs.

We're in trouble right now though, Chipper is headed for the DL, Smoltz dealing with his finger problem tonight, Mcann is still banged up. Thor hasn't had a good AB in a week. Any win right now is huge.

He might get the first base job. I was reading in ajc.com where apparently the Braves are "showcasing" Thorman. I took that to mean he could be traded and there's already been talk of moving Salty to first. That would be cool cause then he could play everyday and so could McCann which to me seems like the best scenario for the Braves.

Hmm. Maybe I need to add Saltalamacchia to my fantasy squad. Thorman is terrible.

Has anyone heard a rumor of the Braves possibly trying to swing a deal for Rich Harden?

I doubt we'll see a big trade for guys like Harden or Willis. The way McGuirk talks it seems like he's unwilling to trade any young talent for a big name and that's pretty much all we have to offer. He seems to think Cormier is going to be a big boost for our rotation, I'm not so convinced in a guy that has 12 career wins but definitely hopeful. Actually he said that if Cormier and Hampton were healthy the Braves would probably be in first place by a couple games, interesting comment but might just be wishfuul thinking.

I think we need to do whatever we have to to get Salty in the lineup regularly. I dont really want to trade Thorman because then we wouldn't have a solid backup at first and plus he can be a pretty useful hitter off the bench, but Salty needs to get more ABs.
