All,

I want to point out that less than 2 years ago, Brian Townsend made a most in small stakes NL asking what to make of a limp/RR in a .25/.50 game.

Yesterday, he finished a marathon 1k/2k uncapped session with Sammy Farha, Bobby Balwin, Patrik Antonius and David Benyamine and cashed out for over 1.5M.

Wow.

I NEED HELP WITH A VEGAS PROP BET...what do you all think of this bet with AZK (hsnl mod):

I would be putting up 1k to his 5k for me to play 4, 5 day (or 120 hour) blocks of 40 hours in each block. any way I'm able to, I would have to complete 40 hours of live side game play within each of the 4 120 hour blocks.

There are no stipulations to the limits I have to play...it will all be live side games. Thoughts?

AMT,

Wait, so you're getting 5:1 that you could play 40 hours in a 5 day span and do this 4 times?

This seems like the most ridiculously +EV bet ever to me, 8 hours goes by without me noticing in a casino.

40 hours a week for a month. Is it possible to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a WHOLE MONTH!!!!!!!

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. He's probably just doing you a favor because he feels sorry for you.

[This was going to be a PM to Slim...but I'm up for anybody with 5th grade math skills willing to help]

Our booster club is purchasing new cubes of foam for our gymnastics center's pit.

Picture this stuff:

We have a couple pits to fill (of varying sizes), but to keep this simple I'll describe one of them.

Pit A - 16'(w), 8'(l), 3'(d)

The depth is actually 5', but there is a 2' tall running tramp at the bottom. We only need to fill 3' of depth.

The foam cubes come in 6" squares & 8" squares. Industry standards offer the following formula to calculate how many cubes you need:

(W x L x D) * 70% * 8 --> for 6" cubes
(W x L x D) * 70% * 3.37 --> for 8" cubes

The "70%" is of course reducing the total volume -- to account for the piling effect of the foam.

What THIS 40 year old math challenged guy needs to get his head around is the "8"/"3.37". I know it has something to do with this size of a single cube & it's relationship to a cubic foot.

Looking at our numbers:

16 x 8 x 3 x .7 x 8 = 2,150 6" cubes needed to fill
-or-
16 x 8 x 3 x .7 x 3.37 = 906 8" cubes needed to fill

My first question is this - does it make sense that we need HALF the number of 8" cubes? I get that the additional 2" are cubed, but I guess in my ignorance I struggle to see this correlation.

Secondly (which makes perfect sense to me by the way...but I want to make sure) - the gym is asking that they have a "mix" of 6" and 8" cubes (as each size has performance/durability pros&cons). If I were to reduce each cubes totalling by half, I'm guessing I should have the same area covered

Ex: 1,075 6" cubes PLUS 453 8" cubes...would fill the 16x8x3 pit.

Going with these numbers, I DO still have the entire volume covered correct? And while I'm nowhere close to a 50/50 split between the actual number of each cube size - the VOLUME that they are filling is 50/50...yes?

Ug...it sucks getting old

6 inches = 1/2 foot

1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/8 the 8

8 inches = 2/3 foot

2/3 * 2/3 * 2/3 = 8/27

27/8 = 3.375

So you have to play 40 hours in a 5 day span on four seperate occasions?

I'm pretty sure I could do this realatively easy without any distractions like sweating people who ship it to the final tables of wsop events and getting smashed like whoa in celebration. GIven that its vegas and there are so many people there right now, I'd say this bet is prolly -life ev. However playing long sessions live is much easier, at least for me, than putting in a long session online, since there's no web to surf or aim to chat up. I know I could def do this, but I'm not sure I'd want to.
