All, I lost $100 to beetz this weekend racing 4 ice cream sandwiches vs his 4 ice cream sandwiches + a beer. The man is an animal. I should not have bet him given that I had seen his dominance at hot dog eating at the track, but my love of ice cream sandwiches led me into a sucker bet. This now puts my record prop-betting vs beetz at approximately 794-1. [/ QUOTE ] El D, How would you handicap beetz in hot dogs under standard ifoce rules (12 minutes, etc.)? |

Re: Prop bet thread
Since we're on food bets....I bet a friend $100 he couldn't eat a 500mL jar of mayonnaise in 25min with only a piece of bread or a small glass of water to go with it. He took the water.
He offered to buy out for $50 after 2 scoops. I took mercy on him and accepted. |

CP, How much money are you talking about? I would probably be willing to take the bet for 72 hours, if we add the stipulation that you must be +$ at the end of the session. 2:1 sounds fair. - TWP [/ QUOTE ] bet amount in my first post, $100-500 range. it's tempting to agree to your stiupulation, but i won't simply because if i did pull it off and i happened to run horrible, i would never forgive myself if that prevented me from winning the bet. |

Re: Prop bet thread
Guys - free throw prop. # made in half an hour. He gets 2 rebounders and 2 balls. It's a guy from my poker night, I don't know him too well and haven't played with him before. He claims to be >90% in normal circumstances, which is very believable to me (been playing his whole life, played varsity HS basketball). He's in his late 20s and in very good shape. Still plays pick up alot, coaches in a youth league etc.
He'll take action up to $1k on any of the below lines: 185 in 30 min. = even money 205 in 30 min. = 1.3 to 1 225 in 30 min = 1.7 to 1 240 in 30 min = 2.5 to 1 260 in 30 min = 3.5 to 1 Thoughts? -Al |

Re: Prop bet thread
Ship Ship - that's what I was sorta thinking too. At ~10 shot attempts a minute, and for a very good shooter around 80% makes over the half hour (factoring in exhaustion). 240 feels about right for even money. But I do not think this is particularly easy to get to at all.
I'm gonna get to a gym and try it out myself, I was a very above average free throw shooter at some point in my life - I just don't have a feel for the accuracy degradation due to exhaustion impact. I'm not sure if he'll get action at these current lines - would you feel comfortable at 240 even money? Think I definitely would. -Al |
