Re: College Football Week 12
Hahaha Bama loses!
If Saban finishes with the same record as Shula last year that would be so awesome. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] When I was in high school one time our coach optioned to kick off both halves. Our defense was very dominant though, and it was on purpose. [/ QUOTE ] I'm assuming he was trying to make a point/embarrass the other team? [/ QUOTE ] Nope. Totally a tactical decision. Our defense was really dominant though. I mean very good. [/ QUOTE ] like they could score points on a regular basis good? |

"Cal made a mistake on the coin toss and will not receive the ball either half." WTFFFFFFF? [/ QUOTE ] Yep, when the announcers said at the start of the game that Cal had chosen to kick, I thought that was going to happen. You have to choose to defer, not to kick. I remember that the same thing happened when Washington stopped Miami's 56ish home game winning streak back in 1994. |

I'm interested in this as a theoretical question: is there a point where a defense is so dominant over an offense that this becomes a +EV move? |

I'm interested in this as a theoretical question: is there a point where a defense is so dominant over an offense that this becomes a +EV move? [/ QUOTE ] Well, what are the odds of a TD, what are the odds of a FG, and when they get neither what is your average field position? And what is your average field position if you just receive? And how many points, on average, is the better field position that your defense gives you worth? Enough to negate the points they're going to get on average? It is an interesting theoretical question, but I have no idea where to start in answering a lot of those questions, so I'm not sure how calculable it is... My gut tells me the defense would have to be quite a bit better than any defense has ever been though... |
