stopped when iw as down $800 or so it would have been like 'meh' and for a lot of my friends they would have KILLED for that much money. And then when I won $300 I don't even care- it doesn't make me one bit happier or anything, because it's nothing unusual. yet for most people winning $300 would be cause for celebration, you know?

Losing respect for money is a good thing, as long as you don't run around making your friends feel bad because you have more money than them (which I am guilty of sometimes).

I try to create the conditions whereby I do not have to worry about money. So I play some poker, I have my savings giving me the highest interest rates I can, I cut my month by month expenses down as far as I can. Then I can spend my spare money on whatever I like.

If you have too much respect for money, then you can do all of those things, but you'll feel guilty about buying random crap.

I think it's like poker in a way: You have to learn how to play in a way that doesn't come naturally to anyone at all (i.e, being aggressive and being tight). With money, you have to look at it in a way that doesn't come naturally to anyone (or many people).

I'm looser with money as far as big purchases go since I started playing poker, but I still only eat at High Street Deli after 4:20pm (when all of their sandwiches go from like $6.50 to $4.20).
