Holt [censored]!!! That's a pot.

Edit: I just re read the hand and WTF?? It doesn't make any sense. F'in Cardplayer.

Jamie Gold Shows
Mike McClain calls the big blind from middle position, along with Jamie Gold on the button. The flop comes 933, McClain bets $50,000, Gold raises to $100,000, McClain re-raises to $300,000 and Gold pushes all-in for $2,100,000. McClain goes into the tank for about 5 minutes and Gold turns to him and says "Let me check to see if I have it." Gold gives the thumbs up to McClain and tells him its not too late to get off his hand. McClain says "I don't know if I like you that much anymore" and folds. McClain turns over 99 for the flopped full house and is now at $2,550,000.

I assume that's Gold that flipped over the 99, not McClain.

Seems clear this is a bad typo; the whole paragraph only makes sense if Gold is the one who won the hand.

I'm not an NL tournament player. Can someone tell me why Gold pushed there? It doesn't seem to make any sense at all. Why wouldn't he call and see if McClain would bet into him again on the turn?

Edit: this is based on Gold having the 99, of course.

If Gold thinks his opponent has a 3 and can't fold it, pushing is the play. Considering what we've been reading about loose calls, it's hard to think his opponent had and folded a 3.

If his opponent doesn't have a 3, it's going to be hard to win a much bigger pot anyway.

Atrocious push with position. Likely cost himself a good chunk if not all of McLain's chips with McLain drawing to 2 or fewer outs.

EDIT: I see that 3 other posters beat me to making this point.
Upon further reflection, on no planet is a push correct. With McLain drawing to 2 (overpair), but probably 0 outs, giving him a free card is harmless.
