This doesn't take into account the retries/moving down to lower steps. So the investment is actually a lower really.

You'd still definitely need ~32 step 5s. But steps 1-4 are a lot more complicated since there are retries/movement all over the place.

Why do you need to get so many tickets at each level?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because in order to win a step 6, most players are probably no better than even money. Meaning you'd need 9 BIs to win 1.

So the EV of me running these steps, according to that mucho-efficient run down, is ~3.5k.

If you're worse than even money at any juncture, you probably shouldn't even play in these. For every level you're less than even money at, you need so many level 1s to make up for it, you hurt your EV (and you're variance in this is actually pretty low) until you get breakeven at best.

But as I said, your variance is low, but 8k worth of buy ins at level 1 is 1k+ hours of play; this isn't including the following levels.

Steps is amazing if you have the time/effort to put into them. Personally I'm just freerolling the FPP level 1s hoping to get lucky with minimal investment. Of course this hasn't worked too amazingly but yeah.

Using this concept, you can assumably garner a seat to Macau for as little as 4630.

Unless I missed a step :P. The fact that 4 spots pay on the FT is the deciding factor

I started with allocating 25 buyins to these tings (step 2)

I have played 20 step twos and got 7 seatp 3 tickets and multiple retries but i just run bad at step 3.

Lol macau is a $4500 package.

I've played like 50 step tourneys total and am on my 2nd step 6 with about $500 in tickets still behind, these are so soft.

GL, railing this one.

My strategy is to always have a back-up for the one you play.

Right now I have a step 4 and a step 3. I won't play the step 3 till I have a back-up step 3 if I don't advance. I won't play the step 4 till I get another 4, etc. etc.
