Re: OT: [censored] thread, September, READ RULES IN TOP POST
This song is for the rats
Who hurled themselves in to the ocean When they saw that the explosives in the cargo hold Were just about to blow This song is for the soil That's toxic clear down to the bedrock Where no thing of consequence can grow Drop your seeds there Let them go Let them all go Let 'em all go This song is for the people Who tell their families that they're sorry For things they can't and won't feel sorry for And once there was a desk And now it's in a storage locker somewhere And this song is for the stick pins and the cottons I left in the top drawer Let 'em all go Let 'em all go I wanna sing one for the cars That are right now headed silent down the highway And it's dark and there is nobody driving And something has got to give I saw you waiting by the roadside You didn't know that I was watching Now you know Let it all go Let 'em all go Let it all go |

Re: OT: [censored] thread, September, READ RULES IN TOP POST
You know what really pisses me off? When some [censored] hippie bitches and moans about evil radiation killing his aura so much that we have to spend billions in US tax dollars to build some superhighway through nowhere to ship low-level radioactive waste. Then the asshat walks outside smoking a [censored] cigarette and drives away in his 1960 Corvair with under-inflated tires. That's why communism doesn't work and representative democracy barely works. A simple solution would be to make "acting like a [censored] idiot" a felony, and also to appoint me Unquestionable Lord and Master of All Existence.

[ QUOTE ]
...which is why I provided a link to a source that actually draws on and identifies studies on the issue. However, in regards to people quoting the WHO: "The evidence is clear, there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke," said the WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan continuing from that page on 29 May 2007: [ QUOTE ] Exposure to second-hand smoke causes heart disease and many serious respiratory and cardiovascular diseases that can lead to premature death in adults.... The new WHO policy recommendations are based on the evidence of three recent major reports, which all reached the same conclusion: Monograph 83 Tobacco Smoke and Involuntary Smoking by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the United States Surgeon General's Report on The Health Consequences of Involuntary Exposure to Tobacco Smoke and the California Environmental Protection Agency's Proposed Identification of Environmental Tobacco Smoke as a Toxic Air Contaminant [/ QUOTE ] Like, seriously, if you want to debate whether "second hand" smoking causes problems, you should join the 9/11 conspiracy theorists in the politics forum. The idea of inhaling a whole lot of crap into your lungs - whether it be from tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke, or any other source - is only going to damage them. To me, it is obviously a question of how much damage is done. [/ QUOTE ] cigarettes are def horrible for you. Marijuana is most likely not gonna be a problem unless you smoke an obscene amount of it, like if you lit a joint every time a normal smoker would have a cigarette. Even then it wouldnt be as bad for you as cigarettes though. |

Re: OT: [censored] thread, September, READ RULES IN TOP POST
as i understand it:
cancer is what you get when reproducing cells make a mistake. they grow in a demented way, and keep growing. every time you damage a cell in your body, it needs to repair itself. it does this by reproducing itself. thus, every time you damage a cell in your body, you have a chance of developing cancer. smoking (tobacco, marijuana, whatever) puts crap into your lungs. this damages them. they need to regrow. as all us probability whizzes know, the more times you do something, the higher the chance of the event actually happening. thus, smoking one cigarette = x% chance of cancer. smoking two cigarettes = 1-(1-x%)^2 chance of cancer smoking n cigarettes = 1-(1-x%)^n chance of cancer (i think there's a minus sign i missed out soemwhere, but the point remains) substitute marijuana in there, and you have basically the same issue - although a typical user is likely to smoke less marijuana than a typical tobacco user will smoke tobacco. ps. i'm no expert - i think i'm a just somewhat intelligent analyst of the information i have available to me |

Re: OT: [censored] thread, September, READ RULES IN TOP POST
right, but the probability of p32 mutants is drastically higher from cigarettes b/c of the chemicals they contain that are not found in marijuana.

Re: OT: [censored] thread, September, READ RULES IN TOP POST
from my understanding, the inclusion of extra chermicals in cigarettes is somewhat offset by:
*the total lack of any standard size in joints *the lack of any filter *the different smoking techniques |
