Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
For Your Consideration. Movie by Christopher Guest (Spinal Tap), this movie was good. Interesting seeing how a movie can be good just because of the hype, it also had many funny moments, I particularly enjoyed the guy interviewing the losers.
The movie made me think of how one can be manipulated to liking or disliking something. Many times I doubt if I liked something because according to the previous movies I like I "should" like this one too, or if I like a movie to go against the popular notion or if I liked a movie because I liked it. It is hard to know which scenario it is sometimes. |

Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
I feel the same way.. for instance I watch a lot of movies because they are either recommended by people (like on forums) or I read critic reviews.. I think this at least has some effect on my mindset going into the movie, which could create some type of bias on how much I liked/disliked the movie.

Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
DaVinci Code
I seriously hope that the book was much much much much much better than this steaming pile of a movie. Actually in the movie all they do is sit around and explain stuff and jump to wild conclusions based on flimsy theories, kind of like they were just reading the book to the audience. In fact, a movie where that good looking French lady sits in an overstuffed chair and reads the book in it's entirety to us would be Citizen Cane compared to what I just suffered through. |

I think a prequel to The DaVinci Code is being discussed.. Hopefully that one will be better.. I didn't even bother watching this one.

Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
I am not a big fan of any of Dan Brown's books (read angels and demons and DaVinci Code). However, i really dont like him. I always make fun of him with my friends. I was very happy he might have lost the lawsuit.
I think my hatred of him stems from the fact I dont understand why he became so huge, while other worthy authors are not. |

Just Re-watched Beetlejuice and Three Amigos...classic comedy.
Caught "Poison Ivy" and "Poison Ivy 2: Lily" on the Saturday matinee on a local station...4 hours of my life that I'll never get back. |

Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
Casino Royale. Had some minor issues with it, but it is a HUGE step up for the 007 series, which I had pretty much given up on sometime around Timothy Dalton.

Re: What Movies Have You Watched Recently?
The Good German
I liked the film noir style, so I enjoyed the movie. I didn't like the end that much, as I felt the "secret" was stretched out a little longer than necessary, I guess it was made to make a more powerful scene later on (which had an homage to Casablanca). Another good but not great movie. |
